The MJ in the name of the MJ series does not stand for Michael Jackson or Michael Jordan but for Made in Japan. These guitars are made there from the best materials by highly qualified and talented instrument makers. This means that the guitars of the MJ series are only below the guitars from the USA custom shop in the Jackson food chain.
In the MJ series, as well as in the USA custom shop, you can find handcrafted guitars from popular Jackson models such as Rhoads, Dinky and Soloist. All instruments in the MJ series are equipped with an ebony fretboard with a 12"-16" compound radius. The Rhoads guitars also get a high-gloss black finish with chrome hardware over an alder body with a 3-piece maple neck with neck-through construction / acoustic. Two Seymour Duncon humbuckers are also used. A JB-SH- in the bridge position and a Jazz SH-2N in the neck position.
The selection of Dinky models is significantly more extensive. 4 new models in a total of 6 finishes are available. From Ice Blue Metallic with alder body and 5-piece neck and DiMarzio pickups or Matte Black Ash on a mahogany body with ash top and Seymour Duncan pickups to the Transparent Blue Burst on mahogany body with Poplar Burl top and DiMarzio pickups. The decision here is quite difficult.
Ultimately, the Soloist guitars remain, here there are both high-gloss black and matt white finish options, both versions are equipped with pickups from Seymour Duncan .

Jackson Guitars was created when Grover Jackson took over the well-known company Charvel's Guitar Repair in 1978. The collaboration with the then Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads in 1980 resulted in the Rhoads body shape, which is still available today, and also marked the start of Jackson Guitars. The timing was just right because heavy metal was experiencing a heyday in the 1980s and the trend (started by Eddie Van Halen) was so-called super or power strats. These are guitars that are visually more or less based on the classic ST form , but are equipped with more modern and stylistically more suitable components such as humbuckers or Floyd Rose tremolos. Jackson soon earned a reputation as a forger of premium, American-built, high-end custom instruments that could be seen in the hands of many well-known guitarists of the time. With the musical changes of the 1990s, Jackson Guitars began opening factories in the Far East in order to be able to offer their instruments in cheaper areas. Since 2002, both Jackson and Charvel have been part of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.
