Body
The mahogany body with maple top and curly maple veneer delivers a balanced sound with warm mids, defined bass, and brilliant highs. The ergonomic double-cut design allows comfortable access to all 24 frets—ideal for modern playing techniques and expressive solos.
Neck
The glued-in maple neck in the popular Wide Thin profile provides a fast, direct playing feel. Together with the rosewood fingerboard, 25" scale length, and characteristic PRS Bird inlays, this creates the typical handling that players worldwide appreciate in the Custom 24.
The PRS Patented Tremolo provides expressive vibrato effects while maintaining high tuning stability—supported by PRS Designed Tuners and precision hardware.
Electronics
Equipped with two PRS 85/15 “S” humbuckers, the PRS SE Custom 24 Gray Black session Select covers an enormous stylistic spectrum—from clear clean sounds to powerful rock and modern high-gain sounds.
The 3-way switch and push/pull tone control allow the humbuckers to be split, delivering additional transparent, single-coil-like tones. This makes the PRS SE Custom 24 Gray Black session Select a true all-round guitar for stage, studio, and rehearsal room.

The PRS SE Series stands for the iconic PRS look, reliable build quality, and versatile tones at an attractive price-to-performance ratio. The SE family originated in 2000, when PRS began developing more affordable versions of its popular models. The idea came from Carlos Santana, who encouraged Paul Reed Smith to make high-quality PRS guitars accessible to beginners as well. The name SE stands for “Student Edition” – yet these instruments clearly exceed expectations for their price range.
PRS SE Series guitars are manufactured in South Korea or Indonesia. To ensure the high quality standards PRS is known for, every instrument is fully inspected and set up at the PRS factory in the USA before being shipped to dealers and customers.
The SE Series offers an exceptionally wide range of models: from single- and double-cut guitars to semi-hollow and hollowbody designs, as well as signature and special variants – ensuring there is an SE model for virtually every playing style.

PRS Guitars sets its own standards when it comes to electric guitars. At session you will find not only the high class PRS custom shop guitars but also models from the mid-price range and electric basses from PRS. At NAMM 2016, PRS is taking a look into the past and, with the CE 24 models, has been presenting guitars with screw-on neck and maple necks in their main range for many years, which offer an interesting alternative to traditional construction. Later, the collaboration with John Mayer resulted in an incredibly successful instrument, the Silver Sky series, which was initially supplemented by additional colors and later by a cheaper SE series .
Through his great passion for guitar building and meticulous research and optimization of his models, company founder Paul Reed Smith has been creating instruments that are rightly considered true works of art for over 40 years. Not only guitar legends like Carlos Santana play the high-quality PRS guitars from the standard series, the exclusive Private Stock or even the cheaper SE production.
Paul Reed Smith is making a name for himself
The American guitar maker PRS Guitars was officially founded in 1985, but the company's founder and namesake, Paul Reed Smith, has been making guitars since around 1975. By giving his guitars to stars like Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola and Peter Frampton and convincing them directly, his instruments became more and more famous. Series production of the Custom 24 finally began in 1985. With former Gibson President Ted McCarty, Paul Reed Smith was able to gain an experienced consultant and the course was set for success for the guitars with the typical bird inlays in the fretboard .
Every guitar is a custom shop model
PRS guitars tend to be in the higher price ranges because of the high-quality materials and careful workmanship. The SE line, which has been manufactured in Korea and is of a high quality despite cheaper materials, has existed since the 1990s. The S2 series forms a link because the instruments are made in the USA, but are still quite affordable.
PRS calls all instruments custom shop instruments due to the high quality and customization options, but with the private stock instruments the company goes one step further and sets real standards in terms of materials, quality, originality and individuality. All PRS guitars have one thing in common: they are real workhorses with a lot of flexibility and look outrageously good at the same time. This can also be seen in the countless endorsers who swear by their PRS , as well as the numerous signature models from artists such as John Mayer, Carlos Santana, Orianthi, Mark Tremonti and Chad Kroeger.
