Discover the Gibson Slash Les Paul in detail

About Slash

Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, was born in London and grew up in England. After he started playing an electric bass but quickly gave up on this instrument, he got his first acoustic guitar at the age of 15, on which he learned to play the guitar. The first musical influences came from guitarists such as Rory Gallagher, Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck, but also from rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Queen and Aerosmith. After dropping out of school, he went to Los Angeles and met drummer Steven Adler , with whom he founded the band Road Crew. After Slash and Adler received a demo from guitarist Izzy Stradlin, which also featured Axl Rose on vocals, the musicians agreed to meet. Stradlin and Rose had trouble keeping their own band, Hollywood Rose, together. After their first appearances together, however, both bands merged to form Guns N' Roses and became extremely successful.

In 1996, Slash left Guns N' Roses after tensions with Axl Rose and the other band members and went on to play guitar with Velvet Revolver and Slash's Snakepit . In 2010 he released his first solo album Slash, which was followed by four more solo albums. Rolling Stone ranked him 65th on the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time .

The Gibson Les Paul Slash Collection

To honor the Guns N' Roses guitarist's many years of work, Gibson is releasing a signature model in his honor.   This instrument is a symbol of the Les Paul guitars with which Slash rocks stadiums around the world. It captures the warmth, sustain and crunch that are his trademarks. This guitar features a mahogany body with a AAA Flamed Maple top and a '50s-style Rounded C neck profile . There is a “Skully” drawing by Slash on the back of the headstock. Two Gibson Custom BurstBucker Alnico 2 ensure a lot of sustain in the original Gibson sound. With color-matched hardware, two stunning finishes and Slash-approved Ernie Ball strings and Jim Dunlop Tortex picks, you'll be ready for the stage the moment you open the Vintage brown case .

About Gibson Slash Collection

Top-Features:

About Gibson

The US Gibson Guitar Corporation, founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was initially known for production mandolins and banjos. Today the company's headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee and Gibson is one of the world's most well-known and renowned manufacturers of electric guitars.

The Les Paul model , named after its creator Lester William Polsfuss, is one of the most famous and best-selling electric guitar shapes of all time and founded the design of the single cut guitar, which has been copied, adopted and reinterpreted by numerous other manufacturers. The Les Paul is primarily valued for its warm and powerful sound . The humbucker pickup responsible for this, in its common design today, was also developed by Seth Lover at Gibson .

At the beginning of the 1960s, another solid body electric guitar from Gibson appeared, the Gibson SG . Initially intended as a successor to the Les Paul, it became another icon of rock history, thanks in part to Angus Young from AC/DC, and is the basis for the double cut guitar type .

With the Flying V and the Explorer , Gibson is responsible for two body shapes that were far ahead of their time at the time of their release in the late 1950s, but which also achieved legendary status over the years. To this day they also serve as the basis for a variety of heavy guitars , for example from manufacturers such as Jackson or ESP.

The Gibson custom shop produces commissioned work , high-quality one-off pieces and exact replicas of famous models and legendary vintages of their instruments. These are often subjected to an artificial aging process called relicing.

Acoustic guitars have also been produced for almost as long as the company has existed. The J-45 , the Hummingbird , the L-00 and the SJ-200 are among the most popular acoustic guitars in the world and were the instrument of choice for Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

In addition to the instruments already mentioned, you can of course also buy picks , bags and cases or merchandise from Gibson from us.

We are particularly proud to have a Gibson flagship store in our Frankfurt branch. There you will not only find a large selection and exclusive models to try out directly, but you will also benefit from the expertise of our Gibson -trained and certified employees when it comes to advice on the perfect guitar.
