The SM7dB is a cardioid dynamic voice and vocal microphone with a custom Shure -designed built-in preamp that delivers up to +28 dB of gain with low self-noise, linear frequency response and transparent sound - perfect for lower gain interfaces and easy setup. Ideal for warm and natural vocal and studio recordings. The preamplifier bypass switches , adjustable bass cut and presence boost, electromagnetic hum shielding, internal shock absorber and external windscreen ensure clear and consistent audio reproduction.

Integrated preamplifier
The SM7dB features a specially developed preamplifier by Shure that provides the appropriate output level for any XLR interface . An integrated active preamplifier provides low noise, linear, transparent amplification of up to +28 dB with a linear frequency response for a transparent sound. All that is required is an audio interface or mixer that provides the phantom power required to operate the preamplifier.
Gain level
Choose a amplification of +18 or +28 dB. Do you want to record loud sound sources like a guitar amp or a snare? For authentic SM7B sound, set +18 dB amplification or disable the preamp completely. Are you recording a podcast or quiet vocals? Use the full internal boost of +28 dB
bypass switches
With a simple switches , the integrated preamplifier is deactivated in order to feed the unamplified signal from the microphone to a professional mixing console or audio interface . Of course, the microphone retains its unique sound character. With the preamplifier deactivated, the performance of the SM7dB corresponds to the original SM7B.
Wide transmission range
Regardless of whether the preamplifier is activated, the proven dynamic capsule with its frequency range of 50 to 20,000 Hz always ensures detailed recordings. All highs and lows are preserved – for an absolutely natural sound quality.
