A newly developed large-diaphragm capsule works inside the Neumann TLM 102, which also allows the recording of drums, percussion, amps and other very loud sound sources with a maximum sound pressure of 144 dB. Even instruments that are not extremely loud benefit from the very fast transient reproduction of the Neumann TLM 102. The most important area of application of the Neumann TLM 102 is in the area of singing and language, where a slight increase above 6 kHz ensures an excellent presence of the voice in the overall mix. Until then, the frequency response is extremely linear, which guarantees maximum freedom from coloration and a very clearly defined bass range. The capsule of the Neumann TLM 102 is elastically mounted to suppress structure-borne noise and a pop protection integrated in the basket ensures the suppression of explosive sounds when recording singing or speaking. Due to the variable area of application and the price, the Neumann TLM 102 is ideal for the home recording and project studio sector, but also for the broadcast sector, especially if particular importance is placed on clear lines of sight to the speakers' positions.
