The History of Mesa/Boogie Rectifier Amps
With the Rectifier series, Mesa/Boogie enabled sonically relevant options such as switching between diode and tube rectification, with diode rectification producing a harder and harsher sound. The two-channel “original rectifier” was later brought onto the market in many other versions. The different channels cover almost all of the characteristic Mesa/Boogie sounds. Each channel has different sound adjustment options, which can be selected using the toggle switch. The Rectifier has achieved a special status in the hardcore, rock and metal scenes because it delivers a powerful, rich and aggressive sound.
Over a decade ago, the Recto underwent a massive facelift that greatly expanded its versatility and made it an amplifier that can handle any style with confidence.
The modernization of the classic: The Badlander
With the Badlander, Mesa/Boogie released a more current interpretation of the classic Rectifier in 2020. The main difference to the older models is a tighter bass range and the modern equipment. The Badlander has a direct out, a Mesa/Boogie CabClone™ IR Cab Simulator with 8 Mesa/Boogie Cabinet IRs, an XLR output and much more. The Badlander amplifier have two identical channels, each switchable between clean, crunch and crush and with controls for gain, bass, middle, treble, presence and master. The different models are each available as a head or combo.
