A new series to honour Taylor's history
We are excited to present the new Taylor Legacy Collection featuring five acoustic models that honour Taylor's longstanding company history. Three of these are redesigned rosewood/spruce models from the iconic 800 Series, which trace back to some of Bob Taylor's earliest guitars. The other two place Bob's flagship, the Grand Auditorium body, at the centre — the shape that helped define the modern Taylor sound. These two models are based on guitars from the 500 Series and 700 Series. Inspired by Bob's original models, these retro models reflect the full breadth of Taylor Guitars' history by combining core design elements with the key developments that followed.
Key features of the Legacy 815e
The Legacy 815e is a jumbo acoustic guitar without cutaway that blends elements of Bob Taylor's original designs with refined modernisations to deliver a comfortable, contemporary playing experience. This model pairs solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a Sitka spruce top to form a large, powerful body that produces an impressive tonal presence. With the traditional X-Bracing Bob favoured in his early days, the 815e delivers a warm, fully developed tone with clear trebles, throaty lows and a slight mid scoop. A modern Taylor neck profile provides a player-friendly feel and relaxed fretting, while heritage elements such as the Mustache Bridge and a "Straight-Ear" headplate finished with a rosewood veneer add authentic period detail.
Rounding off this model are the understated appointments Bob used on his originals: white binding, a three-ring rosette of green abalone shell, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, a tortoise pickguard, a gloss-lacquered body and neck and Large Diamond fretboard inlays in mother-of-pearl.
The Taylor Legacy 815e features a special Legacy interior label and an LR Baggs Element VTC Undersaddle-Pickup with volume and tone controls mounted in the soundhole. It ships with a Deluxe hardshell case.
