Taylor 800 Series
Bob Taylor's favourite tonewoods
With high-quality tonewoods, artful appointments, top-tier craftsmanship and a distinctively bold, modern sound, Taylor's 800 Series offers an unparalleled playing experience. The traditional pairing of solid Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce produces a versatile tone that's rich in overtones. Bob Taylor's favourite tonewood combination delivers crystalline highs and sonorous lows around a slightly scooped midrange, covering a wide tonal spectrum while leaving space in the mix for vocals and other instruments. The patented V-Class Bracing inside the guitars provides increased volume and sustain. Aesthetic details like the comfortable Taylor Neck, player-friendly features such as the radius armrest and a wide selection of body shapes — the 800 Series made in the USA is a cross of craftsmanship and musical inspiration — whether you choose the standard models or the particularly refined models of the Builder's Edition.

Body shapes
The 800 Series is offered in a variety of body shapes: Grand Concert (812), Grand Auditorium (814), Grand Symphony (816) and Grand Orchestra (818). The choice of body shape has a decisive influence on the guitar's overall tone. In summary, the largest guitar typically offers the strongest bass and the most bass-heavy sound, making it ideal for strumming — for example the Grand Orchestra. Fingerpickers will prefer a smaller body like the Grand Concert. If you're looking for an all-round guitar that's at home in every style, the Grand Auditorium is a great choice.
Construction
Bob Taylor's favourite tonewood pairing of Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood delivers crystalline highs and sonorous lows around a slightly scooped midrange, covering a wide tonal spectrum while leaving room in the mix for vocals and other instruments. Ultra-thin high-gloss finishes ensure optimal resonance, and V-Class bracing provides increased volume and sustain across all full-size steel-string models. The scaled-down GT 811e offers surprising tonal variety. With the Builder's Edition 814ce, the compact 811e, two nylon-string models and a variety of other configurations, the 800 Series offers something suitable for every discerning guitarist.
Aesthetic and functional details
Standard appointments include an ebony fretboard and headstock veneer, an ebony bridge and bridge pins, maple binding with rosewood purfling, maple fretboard and headstock binding, a single-ring abalone rosette, a high-gloss finish on the entire body (except for the 818e) and mother-of-pearl element inlays. The rounded rosewood armrests on the 814ce, 812ce and 812ce 12-Fret provide noticeably improved playing comfort. The easy-playing Taylor neck offers a comfortably relaxed feel when fretting the strings. The Expression System 2 is Taylor's in-house acoustic pickup and preamp system, which reproduces the guitar's sound faithfully into a clear, natural-sounding live tone and distinguishes itself from conventional piezo pickups.
Cases
All models in the 800 Series, from the compact 812ce to the full-bodied 818e, are delivered with a luxurious hardshell case for reliable protection. The case, with brown leather covering, wine-red lining and gold fittings, offers the best comfort for your guitar and protects it from external influences. The cases for the Builder’s Edition models are additionally adorned with a floral pattern for an especially refined look.
