About Sennheiser

The Sennheiser company is a German company that specializes in the production of audio equipment. The company was founded in 1945 by Fritz Sennheiser , who previously worked as an electrical engineer for Telefunken. Together with a handful of employees, he began producing the first measuring devices, headphones and microphones in a small workshop in Wedemark, near Hanover.

In the 1950s, Sennheiser focused on the development of condenser microphone technology, which was widely used for recording on film sets and TV studios. One of the milestones is certainly the wireless microphone system developed together with NDR for professional TV use, which was marketed together with Telefunken under the name “Mikroport” from 1958 onwards.

In 1960, Sennheiser presented the next highlight and introduced the MD-421 dynamic microphone, which is still produced and sold today. Thanks to its versatile application options, the MD-421 is one of the best-known microphones in the world and has established Sennheiser internationally as a leading manufacturer of professional audio equipment.

The world's first open headphones also come from Sennheiser. It goes by the name HD-414 and is still one of the best-selling hi-fi headphones of all time.

In 1982, Fritz Sennheiser handed over management to his son Jörg , who further expanded and internationalized the company.

Another stroke of genius from Sennheiser was the HD-25 headphones in 1988. These were originally designed as pure monitoring headphones , but were also application as high-class in-flight headphones in the Concorde passenger aircraft. From there, the headphones conquered the world's DJ scene with supersonic speed and are still considered the most popular DJ headphones with legendary status today.

Shortly before the turn of the millennium, the Evolution microphone series (abbreviated with an "e") came onto the market in 1998. The wireless microphone version followed just a year later as the Evolution Wireless series (ew) . Both series are still produced today and used by the biggest stars in the world (including Drake, DJ Bobo, Peter Maffay, Kate Tempest, Jessie Ware, Ed Sheeran and many more). The success of the microphone series was duly celebrated in 2018 with the “20 Years of Evolution” campaign.

Since 2013, the company has been run by the grandchildren Daniel and Andreas Sennheiser in the third generation and an innovative dual leadership. Today , Sennheiser employs more than 2,800 people worldwide and is represented in over 50 countries. In addition to professional audio equipment, the company also offers headphones and loudspeaker for the consumer sector . Sennheiser always attaches importance to the highest sound quality and innovative design.

In the years that followed, Sennheiser continually expanded its product portfolio to include additional wireless microphones, in-ear-monitoring systems and conference technology. Practical further developments are currently leading to the Evolution Wireless Digital (EW-D) or the mobile radio systems for filmmakers and video professionals from the Evolution Wireless Digital Portable (EW-DP) series .
