In den 1970er Jahren stürmten KISS mit ihrer spektakulären Bühnenshow und unvergesslichen Rockhymnen die Charts – und wurden zu einer der größten Rockbands aller Zeiten. 1976 trat Ibanez an Frontmann Paul Stanley heran, um gemeinsam ein Signature-Modell zu entwickeln. Das Ziel: ein einzigartiges Instrument, das perfekt zu seinem Stil passt – und zur Legende werden sollte.
Als sich Stanley 1977 mit Ibanez an den Entwurf machte, entdeckte er im Katalog ein ungewöhnliches Modell, das sofort seine Aufmerksamkeit fesselte: die Artist 2663. Trotz geringer Popularität überzeugte sie mit ihrer markanten, asymmetrischen Form – und wurde zur Basis für die legendäre Ibanez Iceman.
