The Gibson Keb' Mo' 3.0 in detail

About the artist

Keb' Mo', whose real name is Kevin Moore, is an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter. He had his own calypso band early on. In the 1970s and 1980s he played with various blues bands before recording his first solo album in 1980. In 1983 he became a guitarist in Monk Higgins Band. Here he met various blues musicians who greatly influenced his guitar style and shaped what Keb' Mo' is today. It wasn't until 1994 that his second album, titled Keb' Mo' , was released, which marked the beginning of his solo career under this name. Since then he has received five Grammys, including for the blues albums Just Like You, Slow Down, Keep It Simple, TajMo and in 2020 for Oklahoma in the Best Americana Album catagory . Keb' Mo' was also active as an actor for a time.

The preference for smaller guitars

Keb' Mo' particularly enjoys playing guitars with smaller bodies. Gibson is proud to introduce the third Artist Model in collaboration with the multi-talented guitarist, singer, songwriter and five-time Grammy Award winner: the Keb' Mo' "3.0" 12-Fret J-45. perfect for a variety of compositions and playing styles, this new model features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top, top bottom and sides, and a 25" (63.5 cm) scale length mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard , Grover 's Keb' Mo' custom neck profile and open-back tuners. The neck meets the body at the 12th fret, giving the guitar the rounder, fuller sound and exceptional playing comfort only found on 12-fret necks. The LR Baggs electronics guitar is ready for the studio and stage as soon as you take it out of the included hard case.

About Gibson J-45

The Gibson J-45 is one of the most popular acoustic guitars in music history, played by artists such as James Blunt, Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crow. The first J-45 guitars were produced in 1934 and had the same body shape as we know from today's J-45, a dreadnought with round shoulders. Over the years, Gibson has repeatedly produced different models of the J-45, which not only used different woods, but sometimes even had modified body shapes.

Today's J-45 typically consists of a body with mahogany sides and bottom and a Sitka spruce top . The mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard ensures a very comfortable playing feel. The J-45 is also equipped with a pickup system, making the guitars even more versatile in their application .

Due to the high popularity of the J-45, the quantity of different models is very high. In addition to the classic studio, standard and original models, you can also find signature models from Slash as well as 12-string versions and custom shop guitars of certain Vintage guitars. All Gibson J-45 guitars are handcrafted by highly talented instrument makers.

About Gibson

The US Gibson Guitar Corporation, founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was initially known for production mandolins and banjos. Today the company's headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee and Gibson is one of the world's most well-known and renowned manufacturers of electric guitars.

The Les Paul model , named after its creator Lester William Polsfuss, is one of the most famous and best-selling electric guitar shapes of all time and founded the design of the single cut guitar, which has been copied, adopted and reinterpreted by numerous other manufacturers. The Les Paul is primarily valued for its warm and powerful sound . The humbucker pickup responsible for this, in its common design today, was also developed by Seth Lover at Gibson .

At the beginning of the 1960s, another solid body electric guitar from Gibson appeared, the Gibson SG . Initially intended as a successor to the Les Paul, it became another icon of rock history, thanks in part to Angus Young from AC/DC, and is the basis for the double cut guitar type .

With the Flying V and the Explorer , Gibson is responsible for two body shapes that were far ahead of their time at the time of their release in the late 1950s, but which also achieved legendary status over the years. To this day they also serve as the basis for a variety of heavy guitars , for example from manufacturers such as Jackson or ESP.

The Gibson custom shop produces commissioned work , high-quality one-off pieces and exact replicas of famous models and legendary vintages of their instruments. These are often subjected to an artificial aging process called relicing.

Acoustic guitars have also been produced for almost as long as the company has existed. The J-45 , the Hummingbird , the L-00 and the SJ-200 are among the most popular acoustic guitars in the world and were the instrument of choice for Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

In addition to the instruments already mentioned, you can of course also buy picks , bags and cases or merchandise from Gibson from us.

We are particularly proud to have a Gibson flagship store in our Frankfurt branch. There you will not only find a large selection and exclusive models to try out directly, but you will also benefit from the expertise of our Gibson -trained and certified employees when it comes to advice on the perfect guitar.
