All the info to help you decide

It is one of the biggest and most popular classics among electric guitars: The Gibson Les Paul Standard. The originals from 1958 and the very rare 1959 models are particularly popular with collectors and are traded at utopian sums. Many guitars from back then are still in good condition today and are used as models for new custom shop instruments and are studied in detail by Gibson's experienced luthiers. The 1958 Les Paul Standard is a classic model from the cult manufacturer Gibson. While monochrome models with P-90 single coils were the standard at Gibson until the mid-1950s, humbuckers made their way into the Les Paul line-up towards the end of the decade. Gibson also became more experimental when it came to colour: instead of Ebony and Gold Top, various burst finishes were used to give the guitars a very special look. The Gibson Custom Shop got inspired by these guitars and now presents you with a very special Custom Shop one-off that is based on a Les Paul Standard from 1958.

The Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst is a classic single cut-style electric guitar with a mahogany body an a maple top. Mahogany was already used in the original Les Paul guitars and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard features a Chunky '58 "C" profile and a classic flat fretboard radius of 12”. The guitar is equipped with a classic H-H pickup combination of a Gibson Custombucker on the bridge and a Gibson Custombucker on the neck. Other features include Kluson Single Line tuners, gold top hat knobs, a Tune-O-Matic-Bridge and a cream pickguard.

This model is finished in a beautiful Washed Cherry Sunburst. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. The VOS, or Vintage Originals Specs guitar looks as if it is brand new, but was bought in the 1950s or 60s. The instrument is made to vintage specifications, but has no signs of wear, faded finish, chipped hardware or other signs of age. This type of (non-) aging is perfect for you if you want everything that characterises the Gibson guitars of yesteryear, but want every scratch and dent to come from your own experience and hands.

The Gibson 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Gibson Custom Shop case, which you can use to transport your new dream guitar safely and protect it from external influences.

About Gibson
