Blackstar JJN 212VOC Racing Green Jared James Nichols Signature
Blackstar has gifted its long-time endorser Jared James Nichols a cool signature halfstack. The JJN-212VOC is a lightweight 2 x 12" cabinet that can be operated either as a closed back or as a half open back. Two Celestion speakers (1 x G12T-75 and 1 x Celestion Zephyr) deliver serious tone. Visually the cabinet is also a real eye-catcher: Racing Green Tolex and a basket weave front.

The blessing and curse of valve amps
Ah yes, valve amplifiers. Most guitarists would probably agree that these are the only real way to give an electric guitar the necessary volume, and for many people their sound is arguably THE (acoustic) symbol of rock music. On the downside, all-valve amps usually come with a considerable weight of around 20 kg, making transport a real hassle. Enter: the new Saint James series from Blackstar – the lightest 50-watt all-valve amplifiers in the world!
Technical relief
The series offers 1x12" combos, heads and matching cabs. Both the combos and the heads are available in EL34 and 6L6 versions and weigh just 12.8 kg and 6.7 kg respectively! A decisive reason for the reduced weight lies, besides the Kemirinus wood housings, in the highly efficient power transformers developed over more than 3 years, which, thanks to state-of-the-art components, are ultra-light yet retain the sound and feel of classic iron-core transformers. The combos and cabs also feature the Zephyr speaker developed with Celestion. This delivers the tone and performance of the popular Vintage 30 classic, but at a fraction of the weight and without using neodymium magnets.
Saint James is for everyone
The first channel is modelled on the popular clean sound of classic American amps from the 1960s. The second channel varies by model. The EL34 version convinces with the vintage crunch typical of these valves and offers a footswitchable +10 dB boost. The 6L6 version, on the other hand, provides incredible gain reserves that will likely make any metal player's heart beat faster. Engaging the Voice switch increases saturation and reduces the damping of the power amp, resulting in a super fat sound.
Thanks to Blackstar's Cab Rig software, all Saint James amplifiers can also be used completely silently via XLR, stereo line out or USB, which is particularly advantageous for late-night sessions or recording applications.
