The history of Blackstar in detail

The making of Blackstar

Like so many great British ideas, the foundations of Blackstar were laid in a pub. The four bandmates Bruce Keir, Ian Robinson, Paul Hayoe and Richard Frost, all amp specialists with over 50 years of experience and senior positions at the already established amp manufacturer Marshall, believed they could build better amplifier together. With the aim of creating something new, Blackstar began 2004 years of extensive technical research and development. The mission: Guitarists all over the world should find the “sound in Your head”, the personal, perfect sound .

The production of the amplifier

The former employer's high-gloss workshops quickly became a thing of the past and were replaced by Ian Robinson's garden house in Northampton - in this small workshop the patented innovations ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) and DPR (Dynamic Power Reduction) were created, alongside various amplifier designs, some of which made it into sales and series production. After the first successes, it quickly became clear that the small workshop was no longer sufficient. The garden house has now had its day: Today, Blackstar Amps are series produced in large, modern factories in China.

How Blackstar became famous

In March 2007, Blackstar became known to a wider audience and other guitar communities through the Musikmesse Frankfurt. Now the music industry press, A-list musicians and guitarists alike became interested in Blackstar and invested. Convinced musicians who use Blackstar products include Phil Collen ( Def Leppard ), Richie Sambora, Albert Hammond Jr. ( The Strokes ), Gus G ( Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne ), Neal Schon ( Journey ), Ian D'Sa ( Billy Talent ), Frank Turner and many other world-renowned artists.
