Buy effects devices for electric guitars at session

Are you actually satisfied with the basic sound of your amp but are you still missing that certain something? Do you want to create crazy modulations or spherical surfaces? Then you should think about buying one or more effect devices. The wide variety of different guitar effects opens up endless possibilities for perfecting your sounds according to your ideas. You can find out here what types of effects there are, what they are used for and which effects device is right for you.

Boosters and Distorters

First there are the boosters and distortions . Boosters are used to increase the level of the input signal and bring a tube amplifier into output stage saturation. A distorter, as the name suggests, distorts the incoming signal, but there are different types of distorters. An overdrive works with relatively low distortion. It is used to create slightly distorted crunch sounds or to add a little more punch to an already distorted amplifier . A distortion pedal, on the other hand, has significantly more gain reserves and is usually used as the main source of distortion, for example in front of an amp that inherently has very little distortion or whose own distortion does not suit the user's taste.

Modulation effects

The group of so-called modulation effects includes chorus, flanger and phaser. With these effects, the signal is split into two parts , one of which is heavily modulated, i.e. changed. Both signals are then brought together again with a time delay. Since the sound characteristics of modulation effects are very difficult to describe, here are a few examples. Come As You Are by Nirvana uses a chorus in the main riff, a phaser works in the intro of Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond and a flanger is found in Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love by Van Halen.

pitch effects

Also worth mentioning at this point arepitch-based effects , i.e. those that change the pitch. There are harmony-generating effects (harmonizers), those that shift the notes up or down (pitch shifter) and those that add an additional high and/or low octave (octaver ).

Delays and reverbs

The time-based delay and reverb effects are now absolute must-haves in the standard repertoire of many guitarists. delay can be understood as a type of echo in which the input is repeated as quickly, often and for a long time. reverb refers to different types of reverb. With these two effect types, especially in combination, you can spice up the lead sound as well as create a spherical, floating sound surface or wall of sound .

looper

looper pedals are also useful for this, but are also suitable for jamming and composing on their own. These record the input at a start and end point determined by the player and play the recording again in a continuous loop. This means, for example, that you can layer countless tracks on top of each other or practice solo playing.

EQ, compressors and limiter pedals

Of course, EQs , compressors and limiter in pedal format are also indispensable. These are little helpers that you may not immediately notice at first, but they help to free the sound of unwanted frequencies, to better assert themselves in the overall acoustic picture of a band or to suppress unwanted overload and noise.

Wah-wah, volume and expression pedals

Pedals with a tilting mechanism such as wah-wahs , but also volume and expression pedals can also be found on the pedalboards of many guitarists. While the former sounds exactly as it says, the volume can be changed smoothly with a volume pedal and certain parameters of other equipment can be changed smoothly with an expression pedal .

Multi-effects devices

Those of you who don't want to buy each pedal individually should take a closer look at the multi-effects devices in our range. These offer a variety of different effects in a practical and portable enclosure.

In addition to a variety of devices from the effect categories mentioned, you will of course also find a lot ofaccessories for guitar theme , such as patch cables , power supply and of course pedalboards as well as matching pedalboard cases on which you can mount your compiled effects .
