Korg

The Japanese company Korg INC is one of the most renowned manufacturers of our time when it comes to electronic musical instruments and musical accessories. Among musicians, the company is often simply referred to as Korg . The company was founded on August 28, 1963 by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai . The almost 300 employees at Korg INC are mainly involved in the production and marketing of synthesizers and samplers, drum computers and sound modules, keyboards and e-pianos but also USB controllers, e-drums and useful little helpers for guitarists. Worth mentioning here are clip tuner (pitch clip), tuners (CA-50, GA-50, Pitchblack) and metronomes (MA-2) as well as guitar and bass effects.

The first invention of the two Japanese saw the light of day in 1963, the year they were founded, and was an electronically driven rhythm computer. It went by the inconvenient name Disc Rotary Electric Auto Rhythm Machine Donca Matic , which was abbreviated to the product number DA-20 . The successor Donca Matic DE-20 was released just three years later.

Driven by the success of the first few years and after some careful attempts with the programmable organ Keio Organ , the first analog synthesizer, the Mini- Korg , came onto the market in 1973. Thanks to other synthesizer models such as the MS-10 and MS-20 , Polysix and the MonoPoly as well as the first fully programmable Poly-800 , the Korg company created, from today's perspective, some of the most important classics in synthesizer history.

The success never stops! Synthesizer fans and producers continue to enjoy every new release to this day. Regardless of whether it's analogue, digital or FM synthesis, the Japanese company still sets the tone in the industry, with a few exceptions. The more current products certainly include the groove boxes from the popular Korg volca and Electribe series . Behind them are funny little cult machines – like the Korg volca Kick – with lots of sounds and functions in a handy desktop format. The synthesizers Korg Minilogue and Korg Opsix have also achieved cult status among connoisseurs. Just like the long-running favorite with a vocoder function and 37 mini keys: the microKorg !

On the keyboard and digital piano market, Korg 's keyboard instruments are also impressive. Live keyboardists and entertainers have been appreciating the great sounds and functions of the PA series for several years. The favorites here are certainly the PA-1000 , PA5 X 61 International and PA5 X 76 Musikant . As an add-on, there is now even an external loudspeaker , the Korg PaAS , which ensures optimal sound on small stages or at home. The range also has something for keyboard players who don't want to miss out on the quality mentioned in the hectic everyday life on stage . The SV-2 stage pianos are road-ready keyboard instruments for the stage, available with either the Korg SV-2 73 , 73 keys or 88 keys on the Korg SV-2 88 .

For all keyboard players and producers who are looking for a little more functionality and, above all, flexibility in their studio environment, the Japanese company has a number of music workstations in its range. These self-contained music studios allow their users to handle everything from the first demo to the finished song in one powerful device. Large displays and extensive editing functions make a computer and plug-ins (almost) unnecessary. In combination with an external DAW (Cubase, Logic, Reason) they are virtually unbeatable and are very popular on the workstation market. The highlights from Korg include the workstation keyboards from the inexpensive Korg i3 , Kross and Krome series . For all of you who like to go higher, faster and further, we recommend the top models from the brand new Korg Nautilus or Korg Kronos series .
