Just in time for the Superbooth synthesizer trade fair in Berlin, the Korg company has presented its new offspring from the compact volca series . We take this as an opportunity to introduce you to the star guest of the event and also the entire volca lineup.

Korg volca nubass

The new analog bass synthesizer from the volca product catalog is called volca nubass and is equipped with a Nutube tube oscillator . This is based on the revolutionary Nutube technology from Korg and is therefore the first analog synthesizer to use an analog vacuum tube oscillator to sound generation .

If you turn the controls of the analog drive circuit to the right, the volume is compressed with slight distortion and thus ensures the particularly warm, fat and overtone-rich sound. Thanks to real tube distortion and the ladder filter design, nothing stands in the way of cutting sawtooth waveforms and acid-typical basslines. The sub-oscillator provides additional heat and a lot of pressure.

Like all other groove boxes from the Korg volca series, the nubass also has connections for synchronization. Thanks to its compact size, the possibility of battery powered and the built-in loudspeaker , the volca nubass can also be easily used on the go.

Korg volca mix

Another innovation at this year's synthesizer trade fair from Berlin is the Korg volca mix . With the volca mix, Korg has launched an analog 4-channel performance mixer with which several volca devices can be easily connected to a live setup.

Three external volca models can be supplied with power via the volca DC out sockets of the volca mix. In addition, the mixer has a master sync out socket, a play button and a tempo controls to control the sync signal. Built-in stereo loudspeaker, smooth faders, crisp Lo/Hi cut filter and a master chain for radical sound transformations make the compact DJ mixer a perfect addition to any volca setup.

The volca fm2 is a digital 6-voice FM synthesizer with integrated chorus and reverb effects and various functions for creating complex rhythm patterns. Thanks to the massive arpeggiator and expanded midi options, innovative rhythm and pattern loops can be created. The Korg volca fm2 impresses with a lot of playing comfort!

Korg volca kick

The volca kick is an analogue kick generator whose circuit is based on the legendary MS-20 filter and therefore leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to kick drum sound design. effects can be controlled in real time using the touch FX function . No matter whether you need a bass drum sound with a massive foundation or crisp highs, with the Korg volca kick both are possible and there are no limits to your creativity.

Korg volca modular

As the name suggests, the volca modular is a small semi-modular synthesizer with 8 independent modules and 50 patch points. It also offers two low-pass gates, two envelopes and a reverb effect. With the Korg volca modular you can create unusual and crazy audio sounds that invite you to experiment and discover again and again.

The volca drum is a digital percussion synthesizer with an extensive sound selection and a built-in overdrive. Distorted sounds can be created in no time with the Korg volca drum . The structure of the Rhythm Machine is based on 6 parts a 2 layers. The advanced DSP engine, in conjunction with the additional waveguide resonator, active step, step slice, accent, choke and two randomize functions, completes the features of the drum synth from the volca series.

The volca bass is a step sequencer powered by three analog oscillators with a multi-touch keyboard. The bass machine from the volca series can be used to create fat sub-basses as well as cutting lead sounds . The easy-to-use controls on the user interface really invite you to do some screwing. The clear structure, consisting of just one VCF, VCA, LFO and EG, makes it easy for beginners and professionals alike to create a variety of basslines. Korg volca beats

The volca beats is an analog synthesizer that can be used to create first-class patterns. In order to expand the flexibility a little, the analog synthesis (responsible for kick, snare, hi tom, lo tom, closed/open hi hat) has been given a PCM engine (clap, claves, agogo, crash). . Of course, 16 multitouch trigger pads and a step sequencer are also included. With the stutter function and the Lo & Hi pitch controls , the sequences can be form and modified properly.

Korg volca keys

Behind the volca keys from Korg is an analog synthesizer with polyphonic sound generation and a built-in loop sequencer. Thanks to the Active Step and Flux function as well as the integration of the delay effect, creative sounds can be created effortlessly. The highlight of the Korg volca key is hidden in the filter function of the famous miniKorg700S . Melodies can be played and complex sequences can be programmed using the 27 keys. Using the special volca sample iOS app, speaking or singing voices, but also other audio signals, can be recorded and loaded into the compact module as samples. For creative live performances, you can edit and combine up to 100 sample sounds in real time in the sequencer. Once you start, you won't be able to let go of this little box of wonders from the volca product range. Like all other products from the volca series, it combines its improvisational potential with a very high fun factor and professional functions in an ultra-compact enclosure.
