Simply legendary

The Martin D-28 has been built almost unchanged for almost a century. With its characteristic dreadnought design , it is the American symbol of a traditional western guitar. An icon then! No wonder - even today, countless musicians swear by the brilliant sound volume with its round basses, the characteristic midrange and the open highs. Martin has made an improvement to the D-28: The vibration behavior of the Sitka spruce top is improved by the newly designed forward-shifted bracing. For modern playability, the D-28 is equipped with a narrower nut and a slimmer neck profile . Traditional brands like Martin also meet the wishes and delight of their fans.

Famous Martin sound

This dreadnought acoustic guitar with its 14 frets serves as the starting point for its nuanced and powerful sound , a solid East Indian rosewood body. The wonderfully grained Sitka spruce top is adorned by a faux tortoise pickguard and herringbone binding around the soundhole with an incredible 19 black/white inlays. In addition to its full sound , the D-28 is also comfortable to play. In addition to the dreadnough body shape, the low-oval neck profile with a nut width of 44.5 mm also contributes to this. The nickel tuning machines with their butterbean wings are not only beautiful to look at, together with the compensated inlays on the bridge , they ensure tuning stability and clean intonation.

Inseparable

With its lively frequency spectrum, immediate tone response and high volume, the Martin D-28 is the perfect acoustic guitar for dynamic picking in pop, rock and folk as well as for playing powerful cowboy chords. If you choose a D-28, it stays with you for life. The current models also underline the high manufacturing quality of a Martin Made in USA acoustic guitar and undoubtedly make these wonderful and valuable instruments a guitar for life.

Tradition and future

About Martin D-28

The D-28, together with the D-18, is the oldest series -produced dreadnought western guitar and is one of the best-known models from the American manufacturer Martin Guitars. The D-28 has been in series production since 1932 and is still manufactured in almost unchanged form today.

Today, Sitka spruce is usually used as the top wood, in combination with the X-bracing that is characteristic of Martin guitars. Today , Indian rosewood is usually used for the bottom and sides, which gives the D-28 a warm basic sound. Depending on the type , various other subspecies of tonewoods are also used. Also standard is a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard , which ensures a comfortable playing feel.

Many artists, including John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan, have discovered the Martin D-28, and the guitar is also very popular with amateur and studio guitarists. It is therefore not surprising that Martin Guitars offers the D-28 in numerous model variants and finishes.

About Martin

The company CF Martin & Co., or Martin Guitars for short, can look back on a long company tradition and some innovative inventions.
