The Ibanez PIA3761 in detail

About Steve Vai

Steve Vai doesn't really need any introduction, he should actually be known to every ambitious electric guitarist. Whether in his legendary stints as Frank Zappa's guitarist for special sounds and solos, in his time alongside Whitesnake and David Lee Roth, through to contributions to various soundtracks and an extremely successful solo career, Steve Vai, born in New York in 1960, has the Redefined the limits of the electric guitar - if there are any limits at all for him. Even today, Steve is still very busy and doesn't shy away from any musical challenges. His collaboration with Ibanez also resulted in some of the most successful signature guitars of all time.

The successor to JEM

The Ibanez PIA3761 is the successor and further development of the popular JEM, which is also a Steve Vai signature model . At first glance, both models look very similar. The PIA adopts the Modern ST body made of alder, the HSH pickup equipment, and the Floyd Rose vibrato system. However, the fine details differ, such as the "carrying strap" inspired by the symbol for ying and yang, the design of the pickups and the PIA Blossom fingerboard inlay inspired by the Tree of Life inlay , or the magnetic backplate that still makes it look like this no other electric guitar has ever given. In the video on the right, Steve himself explains the most important features of his signature guitar.

About Ibanez PIA

The electric guitars from the PIA series follow in the great footsteps of the JEM series, which have been among the best models manufactured by Ibanez for years. If you consider that the development of the instruments began more or less by Steve Vai with a sketch of the legendary RG guitar shape on a used napkin , it is quite remarkable what has ultimately become of it.

With each new vintage, the product developers - led by mastermind Steve Vai - manage to combine the special aesthetics and incredible performance in absolute high-end electric guitars and bring them to the stages of the world.

Special features of the PIA series:

For years, the highlights of the PIA series have included the typical RG form and the no longer grip, but teardrop-shaped recesses in the body, unusual colors and finishes , the edge tremolo system , but also recurring details such as the Tree-Of-Life fretboard inlays invented by Steve Vai.

Further special features such as the tonewoods and hardware components used for each individual electric guitar can be found in detail on the respective product page.

About Ibanez

The Japanese instrument manufacturer Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass building. While Ibanez initially stood out with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from manufacturers such as Gibson and Fender , independent series gradually came onto the market, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s, the manufacturer made a name for itself, especially in the heavy sector, with its instruments that shone with modern features, individual design and excellent playability. Innovations such as the 7- and 8-string guitars, which emerged from the fruitful collaboration with artists such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, did the rest to establish Ibanez 's good reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, ranging from entry-level guitars and basses to unusual custom shop models. Ibanez also knows how to impress when it comes to effects devices and amplifier model , as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. With us you will find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
