With the California Traditional series, Fender expands its extensive range of acoustic guitars. These are traditional versions of the California line. The California Traditional guitars are available in three different variants. The Player series is aimed more at beginners, but still impresses with a mahogany body and a solid spruce Top. The Classic and Special series are aimed at more advanced players. The two series mainly differ in the material of the Top. In the Classic series it is made of solid spruce, whereas the Special series features a solid mahogany Top. The individual variants are also available in three different body shapes: the slightly smaller Malibu, the mid-weight Newport and the Dreadnought Redondo.
