The Fender American Vintage II series is not only visually inspired by the historic designs that made music history. Fender has also reproduced many details typical of the era exactly: Bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups that are carefully matched to the tone of the original model year. Thanks to traditional Fender craftsmanship, each instrument embodies the authentic character and sound of the original model.
In the late 50s and early 60s, Fender musical instruments enjoyed steadily growing popularity. There were already several models in the Fender range at the time, but the Stratocaster was by far the most popular. Until 1961, its design was constantly refined. The guitar was given a 7.25" rosewood fretboard and a different pickguard to emphasise the famous Strat curves. The colour palette was also expanded in the early 60s and colours such as Fiesta Red and 3-Color Sunburst found their way into the Fender line-up.
The American Vintage II 1965 Stratocaster offers the tone and feel of the original with its premium alder body, three Fender Pure Vintage 1965 Grey Bottom single coils and maple neck in 1965 "C" profile with slab rosewood fingerboard in 7.25" radius. Other details include historically correct synchronised tremolo with cold-rolled steel block and bent steel string riders, ‘Fender Deluxe’ single-line tuners and a three-ply pickguard.
