Die Explorer tauchte 1958 erstmals auf und galt damals als ziemlich gewagt. Einige Jahrzehnte später wurde genau das ihr Markenzeichen. Spätestens in den 1980ern entwickelte sie sich zum Lieblingswerkzeug legendärer Player wie The Edge, Billy Gibbons und James Hetfield. Die Epiphone Explorer 80s EMG lehnt sich an das ikonische 1984er Modell an und liefert genau diesen Mix aus futuristischer Optik, massiven Sounds und kompromissloser Attitüde.
Das Mahagonihalsprofil im 60s SlimTaper bietet eine schnelle, komfortable Bespielbarkeit, während das Palisandergriffbrett mit 22 Medium-Jumbo-Bünden klassisches Feeling vermittelt. Mini-Die-Cast-Mechaniken und ein GraphTech-Nut sorgen für zuverlässige Stimmstabilität. Tune-O-Matic-Brücke und Stopbar-Tailpiece sind in der LockTone-Ausführung verbaut, damit alles satt und schwingungsreich im Korpus verankert ist.
Für den typischen 80s-Härtegrad sorgen aktive EMGs: ein EMG 60 am Hals und ein EMG 81 an der Brücke. Der Sound ist druckvoll, klar definiert und liefert genau das Sustain, für das Explorer-Modelle jener Zeit berühmt wurden. Geregelt wird per zwei Volume-Potis und einem Master-Tone, bestückt mit griffigen Metallknöpfen. Auf ein Pickguard wird verzichtet, was der Gitarre eine elegante, leicht bedrohliche Optik verleiht. Die 9V-Batterie für die Pickups sitzt gut zugänglich in einem Fach auf der Rückseite.
Geliefert wird die Explorer 80s EMG in einem hochwertigen Gigbag und ist damit bereit für Proberaum, Bühne oder Studio.
