The OD505 vocal microphone with Active Dynamic technology is designed for the stage and is also at home in the studio. It is uncompromisingly robust and combines the advantages of a dynamic microphone with the sonic finesse of a condenser microphone.
With the OD505, Austrian Audio has created the perfect performance partner for singers, podcasters and radio speakers. With its amazingly neutral tuning, it's a real joy to shape the sound so that the strengths of each voice come into their own with just a few simple steps.
The Open Acoustic technology developed by Austrian Audio effectively eliminates unwanted reflections through the enclosure and produces a particularly natural, resonance-free sound. By reducing the contact points of the capsule and storage, it is possible to greatly reduce the acoustic disturbance factors.
The capsule with Active Dynamic technology requires 48 Volt of phantom power and, at 4.4 mV/Pa, has almost the same sensitivity as a condenser microphone. This means that even quiet sounds are recorded in remarkable detail. The second, lower capsule is passively switched and only records mechanically introduced signals. By mixing this signal in phase with the active capsule and using the switchable 2nd order high-pass filter, the OD505 becomes practically immune to any form of structure-borne noise, such as handling noises and impacts.
Thanks to the active circuit , the OD505 offers high output power and requires significantly less preamplification. Pre-amps can be used with lower gain settings and longer cable runs are not a problem.
The well thought-out design is rounded off with another Austrian Audio development, the pop noise diffuser. This filter is specially tailored to the microphone and reduces explosive noises such as T and P to a minimum.
