The A77H is a true midfield monitor in a 3-way type and is therefore the consistent further development of the A77X. Thanks to the latest ADAM Audio technology , it also sets new standards in terms of detail and spatial representation. Two 7-inch woofers, a midrange driver and ADAM Audio's X- ART tweeter ensure the widest frequency range within the A- series loudspeaker. The additional midrange driver ensures precise player of the mid-frequency range, which is particularly sensitive to the human ear. The rotatable HPS waveguide and the integrated DSP also enable the A77H to be precisely adapted to individual acoustic requirements.
Rotatable HPS waveguide and X- ART tweeter
The ADAM Audio HPS (High-Frequency Propagation system) waveguide ensures precisely directed sound guidance with a wide radiation angle horizontally and narrow focusing vertically. All A- series models use the rotatable HPS waveguide design, which allows the tweeter to be rotated 90 degrees. This means that the monitor can be used both vertically and horizontally - without having to forego the advantages of the waveguide.
The A- series HPS waveguide is made from a new type of fiberglass polymer material. Its high density minimizes unwanted resonances and supports a clear sound. The ADAM Audio X- ART tweeter is located in the center of the rotating HPS waveguide. Handcrafted in Germany, this tweeter guarantees maximum impulse fidelity and richness of detail. All models of the A series are equipped with this X- ART tweeter.
Multi-layer mineral woofer
The diaphragm of an A- series woofer consists of several tightly connected layers of mineral fiber material. This material is characterized by minimal weight and maximum rigidity. The exact composition was adapted specifically for each loudspeaker model. In combination with the newly developed magnet system, each woofer from the A series delivers exceptionally high levels with minimal distortion - essential for clean and powerful bass player.
Midrange
The A- series midrange driver is based on the highly acclaimed S- series DHC midrange driver - ADAM Audio's high-end monitors. In the medium frequency range , the hearing reacts particularly sensitively to sound coloring. This is exactly where the new midrange driver ensures exceptionally clean player. In addition, it releases the woofer from player medium frequencies. Both the A77H and A8H are designed as 3-way systems and are equipped with the A-Series center driver.
Hybrid reinforcement
The A series combines the best of the digital and analog worlds: The woofers are driven by Class D power amplifiers - optimal for linear performance and minimal distortion. The power amplifiers used impress with their high efficiency, which is accompanied by low heat generation. This creates potential for further improvements and even higher power .
Class AB power amplifiers are used for tweeters and midrange drivers. They are known for their particularly neutral reproduction of high frequencies. Each amplifier is optimized precisely for its frequency range . The selection and composition of the individual components are the result of countless measurements and listening sessions in the ADAM Audio development laboratories.
DSP based electronics
Thanks to powerful DSP technology, all A- series monitors offer significantly improved and more extensive fine-tuning options compared to purely analog speakers. The firmware can be updated at any time via an ethernet connection. This means that A- series monitors always have ADAM Audio’s latest DSP features – such as new filter types and “voicings”.
Adaptation to the room acoustics
For optimal adaptation to the acoustic environment, there is a 4-band equalizer with the parameters “Bass”, “Desk”, “Presence” and “Treble” on the back of every A- series loudspeaker. Over 100 variants for fine adjustment enable adaptation to the most demanding listening environments in seconds.
Voicings
By “voicings” we mean preset sound profiles. On all models of the A series , different voicings can be selected using buttons on the back of the studio monitors. “UNR”, “Pure” and “Ext” are available.
“UNR” or “Uniform Natural Response™” delivers a minimally colored, yet very natural-sounding frequency response. It is based on some particularly popular monitors from ADAM Audio's product history, especially the AX series. The pleasant and lively sound allows for long production and songwriting sessions without any fatigue. Last but not least, this setting is ideal for enjoying music.
“Pure” has a maximum neutral and linear frequency response. This voicing is therefore always the first choice when the highest level of fidelity is required - typically especially when mixing and mastering.
The option labeled “Ext” allows access to the functions of the “A Control” software via an ethernet connection.
A Control (Real-Time remote control)
The DSP-based functions of all A- series monitors can be remotely controlled in real time via ethernet . The A Control Remote software is used for this purpose. It is available as a free download for Windows and MacOS to customers who register their A-series monitors in the MyADAM area. Further information can be found at www.adam-audio.com .
With the A Control Remote software , monitoring volumes and all equalizer settings can be conveniently controlled remotely. Regardless of the listening position, multiple loudspeaker can be accessed at the same time. The quick reconfiguration of all monitor functions (including voicing, EQ) via A Control is particularly practical, especially in multi-purpose studio rooms.
Adaptation to room acoustics and Sonarworks integration
All A- series loudspeaker can be easily adapted to a wide variety of listening situations, acoustic environments and individual listening habits. Using A Control, powerful filter models can be loaded into the monitor's own DSP, such as room correction filter from Sonarworks. Equipped with the Sonarworks software and a measurement microphone (not including ), all loudspeaker in the A series can be perfectly adapted to a wide range of rooms and sound preferences.
Bass reflex system, enclosure and installation
The A- series enclosures are consistent further developments of proven ADAM Audio concepts. What is noticeable are the more beveled and therefore acoustically more advantageous edges of the housing. A significantly reinforced baffle stabilized the entire enclosure and reduces resonances. Double-sided, flow-optimized bass reflex openings improve air movement and reduce background noise. The German company ADAM Audio develops, manufactures and sells high-end speakers for professional use. Founded in Berlin in 1999 and still based there today, ADAM Audio has developed from an insider tip into a real pioneer and global player in loudspeaker development . The idea for the name ADAM Audio comes from the specially developed Advanced Dynamic Audio Monitor.
The foundation for success was laid by the newly developed X- ART tweeter , which is based on Oskar Heil's Air Motion Transformer, which was created in the 1960s. With the X- ART tweeter, the sound is not generated with a piston-shaped diaphragm , as was usual until then, but with a lamella-like folded film that is inserted in the tweeter. This propels the air four times faster than it moves on its own. In fact, the Advanced Dynamic Audio Monitors quickly became the new benchmark in professional monitoring.
The newly developed tweeter immediately became the epitome of a crystal-clear, high-resolution sound and is the most famous of all ADAM Audio developments. Further progress has also been achieved through the use of modern materials such as magnets made from rare earth metals and high-strength membrane films, as well as the new designs that have become possible as a result. In the course of constant further development, a successor to the renowned X- ART tweeter has already been designed: the S- ART tweeter . New HPS and MPS waveguides milled from solid aluminum were also developed to improve radiation, projection and imaging of the sound and to enlarge the sweet spot of the loudspeaker .
Even in times of mass mechanical production, all ADAM Audio products are carefully manufactured and tested by hand in the Berlin factory.
