Markbass
Light. Compact. Powerful.
Markbass is an Italian company that specialises in the manufacture of electric bass amplifiers. The brand was founded in 2001 in Italy by Marco De Virgiliis. Born in 1963, Marco was fascinated by music and electronics from an early age. His passion already resulted in a self-built speaker cabinet at the age of six.
Driven by his curiosity and the need to constantly create, he founded his first company called Parsek in 1996. Since then Parsek has been engaged in the development and manufacture of electric bass amplifiers.
At the same time it became clear that the bass sector was changing. Thanks to new playing techniques, multi-scale technology and 5- and 6-string instruments, the electric bass evolved from an accompanying instrument into an independent instrument that increasingly took centre stage. It was therefore only natural for Marco and his team that bass amplifiers had to follow this development. Players longed for the right set-up for each occasion.
With a small, enthusiastic team Marco gained experience and developed the first prototypes. In April 2001 his collection of ideas became his current company, Markbass.

Marco & Claudio in our new Markbass boutique
To find out what the new models can really do, our head of the bass department Marco and Markbass endorser Claudio grabbed a few examples and put them through their paces in our new Markbass test room. How the units sound — and what the two of them think in the end — you can see in the video!
Real bass sound and up to 50% lighter than the rest!
Markbass was the first company to install neodymium speakers in their amplifiers. They not only delivered the “real, unadulterated sound of a bass” but also made the electric bass amplifiers up to 50% lighter than ever before. The typical hallmark of Markbass amplifiers to this day is the yellow-and-black colour scheme of the bass amps and cabinets. From a distance the yellow speaker cones already catch your eye. Another distinguishing feature remains the extremely low weight of the products. This is due to the aforementioned neodymium speakers, but also to the use of switching power supplies without heavy toroidal transformers and the small size of the amp heads. Combined with built-in Class-D technology — which requires very little space on the circuit board — the products can be constructed very compactly.
Since the company was founded, especially in the early days, there was hardly a year in which the company was not showered with awards for its products. This superiority spread by word of mouth and ensured that for many artists, such as Markus Miller, Mark Egan, Randy Jackson, Reggie Washington and others, the various bass amplifiers and cabinets from Markbass are the first choice.
As development hasn't stood still and founder Marco simply can't help himself, in 2022 he once again turned the bass equipment market on its head with his new MB58R series. With this new series the founder again managed to reduce the weight of his products, especially in the speaker sector, and what's even better, to protect the environment. In producing the new series in ultra-lightweight construction care was taken to ensure that all parts and components come from local manufacturing — Made in Italy and are 100% from environmentally friendly sources.
