Fender American Acoustasonic
Semi-acoustic versions of classic Fender electric guitars — that is what the Fender American Acoustasonic series stands for. The American Acoustasonic was developed in 2019 by a team of highly creative musicians and equally inventive engineers and pushes the boundaries between acoustic and electric guitars. The Acoustic Engine, developed by Fender and Fishman, powers the Acoustasonic guitars and delivers a new, unique selection of acoustic and electric tones. The Stringed Instrument Resonance System (SIRS) with the Waterfall Soundhole and the integrated electronics were specially developed for the Acoustasonic instruments.

Body construction
The hollow mahogany body of the American Acoustasonic models is light and ergonomically shaped and features a comfortable forearm contour. The spruce top is set into the body and is elegantly edged with a thin 3-ply black/white/black binding. Additional comfort is found in the upper positions of the fretboard: a contoured neck heel and a neckplate integrated into the body make playing in the upper registers a pleasure. The fretboard, controls and bridge of the Acoustasonic guitars are made from ebony. Harder and denser than rosewood, ebony is sometimes so dark that the grain is almost invisible — it can also be strongly figured with streaks ranging from golden to light-brown colouring.
The Acoustasonic body features an inset top with an integrated armrest and Fender's patent-pending Stringed Instrument Resonance System (SIRS) with the Tuned Soundhole, which uses a "Waterfall" design to better control airflow into the body. This innovation produces a natural tonal character when the guitar is not plugged into an amplifier and forms the basis for the Acoustic Engine. With the Tuned Soundhole as part of the tonal foundation you can create an almost unlimited sonic spectrum with just two controls.
The American Acoustasonic guitars have an open-pore finish. This means the finish is light and thin and the pores of the wood remain visible. This type of finish allows maximum resonance from the body and top. The mahogany neck and headstock of the Acoustasonic guitars feature a laser-engraved logo — an elegant high-tech detail that adds to the instrument's beauty. Chrome-plated tuning machines and a "Wing" string anchor increase the break angle over the nut and ensure balanced string tension.
The Acoustic Engine
For the design of the pickup system Fender brought Larry Fishman and his team on board — they proved to be the perfect partners. In developing the electronics for the American Acoustasonic guitars something entirely new was created: the Acoustic Engine. A groundbreaking technology that provides a collection of selected acoustic and electric sounds unlike anything heard before in a single instrument.
Three pickup systems work together to create the Acoustic Engine developed by Fender and Fishman — a blend of classic analogue and modern technologies that optimise the guitar's natural tone and then modify the vibration to deliver an unparalleled collection of electric and acoustic voicings that can be mixed and matched seamlessly using the Blend control.
All American Acoustasonic guitars offer five voice pairs selectable via the 5-way Voice Selector switch. Position 1 is at the bridge, position 5 at the neck. This collection of acoustic and electric voices can be played solo or mixed with the Blend control to create endless combinations. For the "A" voice the Blend control is turned fully counter-clockwise; for the "B" voice it is fully clockwise. Each model offers its own palette of sounds and voices.
Tip: We recommend playing the Fender Acoustasonic guitars through an acoustic amplifier, as this will make better use of their tonal possibilities than an electric-guitar amp. Alternatively, you can also connect the Acoustasonic directly to an interface.
The American Acoustasonic guitars are powered by an internal lithium-ion battery. It is recommended that you fully charge the battery before you play the instrument for the first time. Connect the USB charging cable to a 5-volt USB-compatible charger and plug it into a power outlet. The LED at the output jack glows solid red while charging and switches to solid green when charging is complete. It takes 4 to 5 hours to fully charge the battery. A fully charged battery powers the system for about 20 hours. The battery will not be overcharged — a built-in regulator prevents overcharging that could damage the system.
