The Fender Acoustasonic series in detail

The Acoustasonic series guitars are available in three classic Fender body shapes: Telecaster, Stratocaster and Jazzmaster, all of which are similarly constructed. Although these guitars are acoustic guitars, they unmistakably reflect the design of their electric solid-body relatives. Below we introduce you to all three models:

Acoustasonic Telecaster

The Acoustasonic Telecaster was designed to inspire - a mix of future technology and organic feel, the Telecaster was the first guitar in the series and thus forms the foundation for the success of Acoustasonic instruments. Every aspect of the construction / acoustic supports this feeling. The thin and comfortable Acoustasonic Telecaster with its open-pore, satin finish avoids everything that makes acoustic guitars appear unwieldy. The flat, hollow body won't strain your shoulder and the smooth mahogany neck fits comfortably in your hand. An integrated armrest made of real wood makes playing easier, while the optimized sound port produces natural sonority and lively overtones.

Acoustasonic Stratocaster

For 2020, the Fender engineers who reinvented the acoustic electric guitar presented the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster. Modeled after the timeless technology of the Stratocaster, this Acoustasonic model will inspire guitarists in a whole new way. The American Acoustasonic Series Stratocaster represents the next era of Fender craftsmanship and innovation. From acoustic shape-shifting to a wider range of electric rhythm and lead tones, the newest member of the Acoustasonic family features a unique range of Strat-inspired voicings, as well as the distinctive look and feel of our iconic Stratocaster body shape. Powered by an acoustic engine developed by Fender and Fishman , the Acoustasonic Stratocaster offers new sonic possibilities in the studio and on stage.

Acoustasonic Jazzmaster

The third and newest member of the Acoustasonic family, this exceptional guitar combines iconic acoustic voicings and powerful electric sounds. Whether you're looking for wild new sounds or a new creative impulse, a twist of the controls unlocks everything this guitar has to offer. Switch between acoustic and electric tones, unusual body shapes and unusual tonewoods to create new sounds / tones beyond your imagination. Like its electric counterpart, the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster has its own sonic and visual personality, distinct from its Stratocaster and Telecaster siblings.

Body construction

The hollow mahogany body of the Acoustasonic models is lightweight and ergonomically designed with a comfortable forearm contour. The spruce top is inserted into the body and elegantly set off with a thin 3-layer black/white/black binding . Additional comfort can be found in the upper positions of the fingerboard: a contoured neck heel and a neck plate integrated into the body make playing in the upper positions a pleasure. The fretboard, controls and bridge of Acoustasonic guitars are made of ebony. Even harder and denser than rosewood, ebony is sometimes so dark that the grain is almost invisible - it can also be heavily grained with veins ranging from golden to light brown in color.

The Acoustasonic body features a framed top with integrated armrest and Fender's patent-pending Stringed instrument Resonance system (SIRS) with the Tuned sound hole, which uses a "waterfall" design to better control airflow into the body. This innovation creates a natural tone when the guitar is not connected to an amplifier and forms the basis for the Acoustic Engine. With the Tuned sound hole as part of the sound foundation, you can create an almost unlimited sound spectrum with two controls. The American Acoustasonic guitars have an open-pore finish. This means that the finish is light and thin and the pores of the wood remain visible. This type of finish allows for maximum resonance from the body and top. The Acoustasonic Telecaster's mahogany neck and headstock feature a laser-engraved logo. An elegant, high-tech detail that adds to the beauty of the instrument. Chrome-plated tuning machines and a "wing"tailpiece increase the string angle at the nut and ensure balanced string tension.

The Acoustic Engine

Fender brought Larry Fishman and his team on board to design the pickup system - they turned out to be the perfect partners. When developing the electronics of the Acoustasonic Stratocaster, something completely new was created: the Acoustic Engine. A groundbreaking technology that provides a collection of select acoustic and electric sounds never heard before in a single instrument .

Three pickup systems work together to create the Acoustic Engine developed by Fender and Fishman - a blend of classic analog and modern technologies that optimize the guitar's natural sound and then modify the vibration to deliver an unparalleled collection of electric and acoustic voicings , which can be infinitely mixed and combined using the blend controls .

All American Acoustasonic guitars offer five voice pairs, selectable via the 5-way voice selector switches . position 1 is on the bridge, position 5 on the neck. This collection of acoustic and electric voices can be played solo or mixed using the Blend controls to create infinite combinations. For the "A voice" the blend controls is turned all the way counterclockwise, for the "B voice" it is turned all the way clockwise. Each model offers its own palette of sounds and voices.

Tip : We recommend playing the Fender Acoustasonic guitars through an acoustic amplifier, as this allows you to make better use of their sonic potential than with an electric guitar amplifier. Alternatively, you can also control an interface directly with the Acoustasonic.

The American Acoustasonics are powered by an internal lithium-ion battery. It is recommended that you fully charge the battery before playing the instrument for the first time. Connect the USB charging cable to a 5- Volt USB-compatible charger and plug the plug into a power outlet. The LED on the output socket lights up solid red during charging and changes to solid green when charging is complete. It takes 4 to 5 hours for the battery to be fully charged. A fully charged battery will power the system for approximately 20 hours. The battery is not overcharged - a built-in controls prevents it from overcharging and potentially damaging the system .

The Acoustasonic Player series

The evolution of Fender 's groundbreaking Acoustasonic guitars continues with the introduction of the Acoustasonic Player Telecaster. The Acoustasonic Player Telecaster offers many of the same great features as its American-made cousins, but it opens the door to a wider range of customers by reducing the range of features to the essentials, making it more affordable. Although there are some subtle differences, the workmanship of the Acoustasonic Player Telecaster is virtually identical to that of the American Acoustasonic models. The Acoustasonic Player is designed using the same blueprint and represents no compromise for you if you want the great feel and craftsmanship of the Acoustasonic.
