Discover the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster in detail

The third and newest member of the Acoustasonic family is the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster. This exceptional guitar combines iconic acoustic voicings and powerful electric sounds. Whether you're looking for wild new sounds or a new creative impulse, a twist of the controls unlocks everything this guitar has to offer. Switch between acoustic and electric tones, unusual body shapes and unusual tonewoods to create new sounds / tones beyond your imagination. Like its electric counterpart, the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster has its own sonic and visual personality, distinct from its Stratocaster and Telecaster siblings.

construction / acoustic

The hollow mahogany body is light and ergonomically shaped and features a forearm contour. The spruce top is inserted into the body and elegantly set off with a thin 3-layer black/white/black binding . Additional comfort can be found in the upper positions of the fingerboard: a contoured neck heel and a neck plate integrated into the body make playing in the upper positions a pleasure. The fretboard, controls and bridge of the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster are made of ebony. Even harder and denser than rosewood, ebony is sometimes so dark that the grain is almost invisible - it can also be heavily grained with veins ranging from golden to light brown in color.

The Acoustasonic body features a framed top with integrated armrest and Fender's patent-pending Stringed instrument Resonance system (SIRS) with the Tuned sound hole, which uses a "waterfall" design to better control airflow into the body. This innovation creates a natural tone when the guitar is not connected to an amplifier and forms the basis for the Acoustic Engine. With the Tuned sound hole as part of the sound foundation, you can create an almost unlimited sound spectrum with two controls.

The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster's mahogany neck and headstock feature a laser-engraved Fender logo. An elegant, high-tech detail that adds to the beauty of the instrument. Chrome-plated tuning machines and a "wing"tailpiece increase the string angle at the nut and ensure balanced string tension.

Acoustic engine

Fender brought Larry Fishman and his team on board to design the pickup system - they turned out to be the perfect partners. When developing the electronics of the Acoustasonic guitars, something completely new was created: the Acoustic Engine. A groundbreaking technology that provides a collection of select acoustic and electric sounds never heard before in a single instrument . Three pickup systems work together to create the Acoustic Engine developed by Fender and Fishman - a blend of classic analog and modern technologies that optimize the guitar's natural sound and then modify the vibration to deliver an unparalleled collection of acoustic and electric voicings . In the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster, the Fender Acoustasonic Noiseless pickup known from the other two models in the series has been replaced by a Fender Acoustasonic Shawbucker, which gives the model a particularly unique sound .

These three pickups are responsible for the sound of the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster:

  • Fishman Matrix™ Narrow pickup : The acoustic sound begins with Fishman's renowned Matrix Narrow Undersaddle transducer, which is installed directly under the saddle
  • Fishman Acoustasonic Enhancer : The Acoustasonic Enhancer is installed under the top and focuses exclusively on its sound. It is well suited for percussive playing styles with a lot of attack.
  • Fender Acoustasonic Shawbucker™ : A new humbucker developed by Tim Shaw produces the most powerful Acoustasonic sounds yet - fiery electric tones that perfectly complement the acoustic sounds of the guitar.

The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster offers five voice pairs, accessible via the 5-way voice selector switches . As usual on an electric guitar, position one is on the bridge, position five is on the neck. This collection of acoustic and electric voices can be played solo or mixed using the Blend controls to create infinite combinations. For the "A voice" the blend controls is turned all the way counterclockwise, for the "B voice" it is turned all the way clockwise. As well as visually, the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster differs significantly in sound from the other two models in the series.

  • position 1 : Slightly distorted electric guitar sound (A) to strong distortion (B)
  • position 2 : Acoustic Lo-Fi Piezo sound (A), towards B a distorted electric guitar sound is added
  • position 3 : The sound of a Rosewood Auditorium western guitar (A), towards B the Acoustic Enhancer is added for a percussive effect
  • position 4 : A jumbo guitar with a mahogany body (A) and a mahogany parlor guitar (B)
  • position 5 : Rosewood dreadnought (A) and a slope shoulder guitar made of mahogany (B)

Tip : We recommend playing the Fender Acoustasonic guitars through an acoustic amplifier, as this allows you to make better use of their sonic potential than with an electric guitar amplifier. Alternatively, you can also control an interface directly with the Acoustasonic.

power supply

The American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is powered by an internal lithium-ion battery. It is recommended that you fully charge the battery before playing the instrument for the first time. Connect the USB charging cable to a 5- Volt USB-compatible charger and plug the plug into a power outlet. The LED on the output socket lights up solid red during charging and changes to solid green when charging is complete. It takes about four to five hours for the battery to fully charge. A fully charged battery will power the system for approximately 20 hours. The battery is not overcharged - a built-in controls prevents it from overcharging and potentially damaging the system .

Tradition and modernity

The American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster has an open-pored finish. This means that the finish is light and thin and the pores of the wood remain visible. This type of finish allows for maximum resonance from the body and top. Traditional and adventurous at the same time, the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is available in five spectacular colors: Natural, Arctic White, Sunburst, Ocean Turquoise and Tungsten. A deluxe gig bag is including . The suffix “American” says it all: The American Acoustasonic is of course made in the USA.
