EVH Hypersonic amplifiers
authentic EVH tone as a digital replica
The EVH 5150III® Hypersonic™ 6L6 1x12 Combo is built on enormous digital processing power and reproduces a realistic model of the EVH 5150III 6L6 tube combo. A digital high-performance power amp simulates the headroom and dynamic range of the real tube amp. In combination with a Celestion® 12" EVH G12H Speaker and the rear-sealed ¾" plywood cabinet with Tonebar® bracing, it creates a convincingly authentic EVH tone that in density, volume and dynamics is practically very close to the full-tube original.
Three channels for the full EVH universe
The amp offers three channels with clear roles:
- Green (Clean) – crystal-clear, open, dynamic
- Blue (Crunch) – powerful rhythm range with bite
- Red (Lead) – singing high-gain lead sound in the 5150 style
Each channel has its own gain, volume and EQ. For channels 1 and 2 the EQ sections are set up concentrically (stacked):
- lower ring = Channel 1 (Clean)
- upper ring = Channel 2 (Crunch)
This lets you shape both channels quickly and independently – without compromises on the control panel.
Tight stays tight: noise gate per channel
For maximum control in the high-gain range each channel has its own individually adjustable noise gate. This ensures focused rhythm passages and clean stops – without the tone losing sustain or punch.
Power Scaling: real amp feel at any volume
The variable power attenuation ranges from 50 watts maximum down to 1 watt across several attenuator stages. This not only reduces volume but also adjusts the headroom so the amp reaches musical saturation earlier – like a classic tube amp in the sweet spot, only usable quietly.
Recording & live without detours
With the balanced XLR line-out including switchable IR cabinet simulation, the Hypersonic can be played directly into an interface or PA. The IR options Off / SM57 / SM7B are instantly selectable – perfect for consistent live sounds or quick recording without a microphone setup. A mute switch makes silent switching on stage or in the studio easier.
Via USB-C the amp is also prepared for firmware updates; an IR manager is planned for Q2 2026, which will allow you to add your own IRs and personalise further parameters.
Light, robust, tour-ready
The Hypersonic Combo weighs only 17.2 kg and is therefore about 12 kg lighter than the full-tube version. The sealed cabinet still delivers tight low end and real backline authority. A 5-way footswitch for channel selection as well as for reverb and FX loop is included.
The amp is available in Black or Ivory (ivory white).
Full-range speakers of the Hypersonic series – FR-12
The EVH Hypersonic FR-12 is an active full-range flat-response speaker, developed for use with modern digital amp modellers and profilers. Its goal is a clear, precise and true-to-detail reproduction: the FR-12 reproduces the sound of amp and effect models as they were intended – without colouring and without loss of nuance. That makes it the ideal partner for Tone Master Pro and a perfect solution for players who use their modelling rig at home or on stage.
What's inside the speaker?
Inside there's an integrated 1,000-watt power amp that provides enough volume and headroom even for demanding live situations. For adapting to room, stage or personal taste the FR-12 has a 3-band active EQ as well as a high-frequency cut (High-Frequency-Cut). This allows you to quickly fine-tune the stage sound without changing the line-out signal – ideal when FOH and stage need to be optimised separately.
Visually the FR-12 also fits the system: the design is inspired by the modern EVH 5150 III amplifiers and delivers an authentic backline look. Available in Black or Ivory with a textured vinyl covering.
