Tube amps sound best when turned up . The unique feel , dynamics and natural compression of a heated tube amplifier are widely considered the holy grail of guitar tone . The problem is that it's not practical for you or your neighbors to turn your 100W tube amp to that volume. Blackstar has finally remedied this problem with the refreshed HT series .

The HT-1R and HT-5R models feature unique push-pull power amplifiers and are designed to achieve full tube sound, regardless of the environment, even at the lowest volume. The HT-20R MkII is equipped with a power reduction function that reduces the power to 2 watts without compromising the sound and is perfect for driving this EL84 in the studio or at home at a manageable volume. The compact enclosure has a three-degree angle on the front, a top-loading control panel and stage-friendly chickenhead buttons, giving the HT-5R MkII a stunning boutique style.

In 2008, the Blackstar HT-5 took the world by storm and set a new standard for low-wattage home and studio amplifiers. Due to its great success, the smaller version HT-1R, the larger HT-20R and, most recently, the HT Venue series were also launched in the following years. Now the MKII goes one step further with incredible power and groundbreaking new features, from dynamic power reduction to 0.5W and footswitchable voices to XLR DI output and direct USB recording. The smaller HT amplifier ' low-power push-pull power amplifiers produce the crunch and break-up characteristics of a traditional 100W power amplifier at volume levels suitable for home practice and recording.
Perfectly suited for home recording
In addition to providing record-ready tube sounds at any volume, the HT amplifier are equipped with a USB direct-out to easily record your sound without the need for an interface . Also included is a stereo recording output via XLR and jack with selectable cabinet simulation options of 4×12 or 1×12. The HT amplifier also have built-in load protection, which means you can use them for silent practice and recording without a speaker connected. The HT amps can be connected to external devices for practicing, recording or live use via the DI output.
New in the HT MkIII models: CabRig DSP technology
A new addition to the third generation of the HT family is Blackstar's advanced IR-based CabRig DSP technology. This technology was originally used in the St James and Amped series. Combined with 4-channel audio via USB-C, it's easy to capture professional-quality tube sounds in a DAW. The CabRig outputs (XLR, stereo line out and USB) can also be used in standby mode, making the device ideal for recording and quiet stages. In addition, improved components and a completely new digital reverb with adjustable parameters help to further improve the sound and performance.
Channels and effects
HT amplifier are equipped with two foot-switchable clean and overdrive voicings. For the clean, choose between a bright American setting with a solid and tight bass response, or the classic British setting with a warm midrange that's sensitive to your guitar's volume controls and your playing dynamics. For overdrive, choose between a classic hot rod setting with medium power amp attenuation or a more modern setting with a mid-focused pre- overdrive boost with a more aggressive sound that comes from the reduced power amp attenuation. The integrated studio-quality reverb complements your guitar sound perfectly.
