About Rickenbacker

The US company Rickenbacker was founded in 1931 as the Electro String instrument Corporation, making it one of the longest-serving manufacturers of electric guitars. Although they began with the production of electric lap steel guitars, it is probably the electric basses 4000 to 4004 that most people head of when they hear the name Rickenbacker . These basses became icons of rock music in the hands of Paul McCartney, Metallica's Cliff Burton and of course Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister and are still very popular today thanks to their special optics and undeniable Vintage flair.

The body and neck are traditionally made from maple. At 33-1/4 inches, the scale length specially developed by Rickenbacker is slightly shorter than the "longscale standard" introduced with the Fender Precision Bass. Another special features and now a feature of Rickenbacker instruments is the design with a continuous neck, which has been used since 1956. The pickup were initially adopted unchanged from the electric (lap steel) guitars, which still characterizes the typical Rickenbacker sound today, which can be described as treble-heavy, wiry with a soft deep bass and a low midrange content. Thanks to the reduced mids, there is less overlap with the frequencies of electric guitars, which makes these basses particularly popular in rock music.

All Rickenbacker instruments are made in the USA and delivered in a high-quality case.
