Product information

The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special is a unique model from the growing PRS SE series and the revival of a popular PRS USA model, the Swamp Ash Special. With a swamp ash body and a 22-fret maple neck with maple fretboard , the SE Swamp Ash Special offers a fresh design and a diverse sound personality. Due to the choice of wood, the Swamp Ash Special should also appeal to players who have previously been less able to identify with PRS .

The PRS 85/15 "S" pickup flank a PRS -developed AS-01 single coil "S" pickup in the middle position. The AS-01 Single Coil is made of both Alnico and steel - which is where the name of Paul Reed Smith's new pickup creation comes from - which gives the pickups additional mass and thus contributes to a powerful sound . Paired with a push-pull tone control and a 3-way pickup switches , this pickup and electronics package offers the guitarist a wide range of sounds. Thanks to the patented tremolo from PRS , you can vary your sound as you wish and expand the sound spectrum. The overall sound of the PRS SE Swamp Ash Special offers tight bass, clear but smooth highs and a welcome twang sound that is suitable for hot country, blues and even jazz.

The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special is delivered in a well-padded, stylish PRS gig bag. The model is available in several colors, such as Iri Blue, Charcoal or the classic Vintage Sunburst.

About PRS SE
In 2000 , PRS launched the SE family. These are wallet-friendly versions of their popular models produced in the Far East. Here you can find everything from single and double cut to semi-hollow and hollow electric guitars. We owe the development of the SE series to none other than Carlos Santana, who convinced Paul Reed Smith to build cheaper versions of his popular guitars so that even beginners could get a taste for PRS. The name SE therefore stands for “Student edition”. However, it should be mentioned that although the instruments are aimed at beginners, they clearly exceed the usual quality of their price segment.

The SE series guitars are produced in either South Korea or Indonesia. To ensure the quality customers expect from PRS , each instrument is tuned and inspected in the US factory before being shipped to dealers and ultimately customers.

About PRS

PRS Guitars sets its own standards when it comes to electric guitars. At session you will find not only the high class PRS custom shop guitars but also models from the mid-price range and electric basses from PRS. At NAMM 2016, PRS is taking a look into the past and, with the CE 24 models, has been presenting guitars with screw-on neck and maple necks in their main range for many years, which offer an interesting alternative to traditional construction. Later, the collaboration with John Mayer resulted in an incredibly successful instrument, the Silver Sky series, which was initially supplemented by additional colors and later by a cheaper SE series .

Through his great passion for guitar building and meticulous research and optimization of his models, company founder Paul Reed Smith has been creating instruments that are rightly considered true works of art for over 40 years. Not only guitar legends like Carlos Santana play the high-quality PRS guitars from the standard series, the exclusive Private Stock or even the cheaper SE production.

Paul Reed Smith is making a name for himself

The American guitar maker PRS Guitars was officially founded in 1985, but the company's founder and namesake, Paul Reed Smith, has been making guitars since around 1975. By giving his guitars to stars like Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola and Peter Frampton and convincing them directly, his instruments became more and more famous. Series production of the Custom 24 finally began in 1985. With former Gibson President Ted McCarty, Paul Reed Smith was able to gain an experienced consultant and the course was set for success for the guitars with the typical bird inlays in the fretboard .

Every guitar is a custom shop model

PRS guitars tend to be in the higher price ranges because of the high-quality materials and careful workmanship. The SE line, which has been manufactured in Korea and is of a high quality despite cheaper materials, has existed since the 1990s. The S2 series forms a link because the instruments are made in the USA, but are still quite affordable.

PRS calls all instruments custom shop instruments due to the high quality and customization options, but with the private stock instruments the company goes one step further and sets real standards in terms of materials, quality, originality and individuality. All PRS guitars have one thing in common: they are real workhorses with a lot of flexibility and look outrageously good at the same time. This can also be seen in the countless endorsers who swear by their PRS , as well as the numerous signature models from artists such as John Mayer, Carlos Santana, Orianthi, Mark Tremonti and Chad Kroeger.
