The Soundgear series, also better known as the SR series, is a line of solid-body electric basses from the Japanese company Ibanez. The SR series was introduced in the year 1987 and has been produced continuously ever since due to its popularity.
The SR bass replaced the popular RB series, officially called the "Roadstar Bass" series. The first SR bass is based on a logical evolution and has since convinced players with many identical features: rounded corners, a fully carved top, a slightly smaller size and, of course, an ultra-slim profile.
To live up to its reputation as a real workhorse, the SR series' body was slimmed down to save weight. The neck joint was also redesigned for even more sustain and better stability. Thanks to the slimmer silhouette and the weight savings, any electric bass from the SR series can be played quickly and comfortably.
The SR models range from simple beginner and student models like the GSR- and GSRM-, over the solid basses of the SRT series with neck-through constructions, up to the absolute top class with exotic woods, such as the SR-Prestige- and SR-Premium series. Depending on taste and budget, everyone will find the right electric bass model from the Ibanez SR series.
