Die Gitarren der Ibanez AZ Serie sind eine zeitgemäße Interpretation der klassischen ST- Style Gitarren, quasi eine Hightech Variante für das 21ste Jahrhundert. Ibanez hat der AZ2204AG-TFB eine ganze Reihe aktueller Detailverbesseungen verpaßt: das Ibanez T1802 Tremolo by Gotoh ist eine überarbeitete Version des guten, alten Vintage ST Tremolos - Stahlreiter und schlackerfreier Tremolohebel, reibungsarme 2 Bolzen Lagerung. Der Hals besteht aus Roasted Maple, ein thermobehandeltes Holz mit der Stabilität und dem Klang von jahrelang abgelagertem Tonholz, Erlenbody, tief ausgeschnittene Cutaways ermöglichen problemloses Erreichen der hohen Lagen. Die Gotoh Locking Mechaniken sind in der Schafthöhe verstellbar, die Mechniken lassen sich problemlos staggern. In Sachen Tonabnehmer hat Ibanez mit Seymour Duncan zusammengearbeitet - das Ergebnis sind die neuen Hyperion Pickups, die in Verbindung mit der dyna-Mix 9 Schaltung zahlreiche Schaltungs- und Soundvarianten ermöglichen.
