About Gibson L-00

Gibson began building the L-00 series as early as the 1930s, but unfortunately production had to stop in 1945. With the re-release of the L-00 series , Gibson does justice to the original acoustic guitars, handcrafted in the USA by highly talented instrument makers from the best woods. The L-00 series contains various versions of acoustic guitars.

The “entry-level model” in the small-body guitar family is the studio type. These guitars are available in two different woods, one with a walnut top and back, and the other with a rosewood top and bottom . Both versions come pre-installed with a pickup system, which is either a Fishman system or an LR Braggs system, depending on the model .

The standard type of the L-00 series has a Sitka spruce top combined with mahogany bottom and sides. An LR Braggs pickup system is also already installed.

The next step in the L-00 series are the original models, which are modeled on the originals from the 30s and 40s in particular detail, and even the old Gibson logo is used again.

At the top are the custom shop masterpieces of the Deluxe series. The unique guitars with a Sitka spruce top and rosewood bottom and sides also feature an LR Braggs pickup system. However, they impress with their wonderful design and excellent workmanship.

If you would like to get an overview of our current range of the L-00 series , you can find our series page here .

About Gibson

The US Gibson Guitar Corporation, founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was initially known for production mandolins and banjos. Today the company's headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee and Gibson is one of the world's most well-known and renowned manufacturers of electric guitars.

The Les Paul model , named after its creator Lester William Polsfuss, is one of the most famous and best-selling electric guitar shapes of all time and founded the design of the single cut guitar, which has been copied, adopted and reinterpreted by numerous other manufacturers. The Les Paul is primarily valued for its warm and powerful sound . The humbucker pickup responsible for this, in its common design today, was also developed by Seth Lover at Gibson .

At the beginning of the 1960s, another solid body electric guitar from Gibson appeared, the Gibson SG . Initially intended as a successor to the Les Paul, it became another icon of rock history, thanks in part to Angus Young from AC/DC, and is the basis for the double cut guitar type .

With the Flying V and the Explorer , Gibson is responsible for two body shapes that were far ahead of their time at the time of their release in the late 1950s, but which also achieved legendary status over the years. To this day they also serve as the basis for a variety of heavy guitars , for example from manufacturers such as Jackson or ESP.

The Gibson custom shop produces commissioned work , high-quality one-off pieces and exact replicas of famous models and legendary vintages of their instruments. These are often subjected to an artificial aging process called relicing.

Acoustic guitars have also been produced for almost as long as the company has existed. The J-45 , the Hummingbird , the L-00 and the SJ-200 are among the most popular acoustic guitars in the world and were the instrument of choice for Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

In addition to the instruments already mentioned, you can of course also buy picks , bags and cases or merchandise from Gibson from us.

We are particularly proud to have a Gibson flagship store in our Frankfurt branch. There you will not only find a large selection and exclusive models to try out directly, but you will also benefit from the expertise of our Gibson -trained and certified employees when it comes to advice on the perfect guitar.
