Product information

As a look back at the founding year, Evans '56 is a series of products offered that respond to the sound ideas and visual wishes of lovers of the Vintage era. Here Evans introduces the Calftone bass drum head, a synthetic alternative to the traditional bass drum heads that were previously made from calf skin. These heads embody the calfskin look and sound of the 50s, but with the durability, perfect burr and vocal range of the level 360 technology standard.

Evans EMAD Calftone
Evans Calftone bass drum heads are made from a 12 mil Mylar film to produce warm, full and natural tones. These heads present the best of the Vintage kit, a combination of the memory of the classic style and the sound of modern shell. To further convey this feeling, Evans '56 are delivered in Vintage-style packaging. The bass drum heads are available in sizes from 16" to 26" and here as an EQ4 version (single layer, with damping ring inside). The "Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD)" developed by Evans dampens with an externally mounted ring and makes further damping of the bass drum unnecessary. With its help, the sound can be changed in just a few simple steps.

About Evans

Evans has been shaping the sound of drummers around the world for over 60 years . With the introduction of the first synthetic drum head in 1956 by Chick Evans , the brand set new standards of advancement and development that changed the drum world forever. By using polymer film instead of conventional leather, a skin was created that had a sound surprisingly similar to that of natural skins and was at the same time resistant to temperature and humidity. Real animal skins are now only used for percussion instruments such as congas or bongos, with which Evans laid the foundation for today's industry standard .

Driven by its own claim to produce the most technologically advanced drum heads in the world, the brand can look back on further innovations such as the patented UV coating process or level 360 technology and has focused on producing high-quality drum heads for more than 60 years , which help drummers solve their tonal problems.
