Discover the Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special in detail

About Tony Iommi

British guitarist Tony Iommi is a founding member of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath . Tony is the only Black Sabbath musician who never left the band, so he is seen as the driving force of Black Sabbath. He began playing guitar as a teenager and later played in blues-rock bands before founding Black Sabbath . Tony Iommi's iconic riffs, heavy sounds and incredibly influential albums laid the foundation for heavy metal and many subsequent genres. Like himself, his musical career is loved and respected everywhere. And while his innovative guitar tuning and playing styles are largely responsible for his monstrous sound , at the heart of it all is a heavily modified 1964 Gibson SG.

Heavy metal Monster

Epiphone has now released a guitar based on the iconic 1964 original, which gave us countless iconic metal riffs. The Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special features a two-piece mahogany body, a one-piece mahogany neck with Rounded Tony Iommi Neck Profile, an Indian Laurel fretboard with 22 frets, a GraphTech nut, Grover Rotomatic tuner with modern designed buttons and chrome-plated Epiphone PRO P-90 pickup wired with CTS pots and Orange Drop capacitors. Included in the hard case is a static cling reproduction of Tony's "Monkey" sticker.

Gibson vs Epiphone SG

In this video you will get to know the sound of the Epiphone Tony Iommi SG Special and its relative, the Gibson Tony Iommi Signature SG. Both guitars are modeled on Tony's original Gibson SG from 1964. When designing both guitars, great attention was paid to authentic design and accurate representation of the smallest details.
