For the instruments in the Traditional series, Eastman drew inspiration from well-known and proven models of renowned brands and manufacturers. These guitars are not copies, however; each has its own individual sound and a timeless, classic look.
The range within the series knows almost no limits. The Traditional series offers many different body shapes, from Dreadnoughts to OM and 00 models and even parlour guitars. The top (soundboard) wood is usually Sitka or Adirondack spruce, and the choice of body woods ranges from Sapele and Ovangkol on the more affordable models to exotic tropical woods such as Madagascar rosewood or mahogany. Each instrument in the Traditional series is constructed entirely from solid wood.
In instruments bearing the designation TC, the Thermo-Cure process has also been applied. In this process the guitar’s top is heat-treated, further enhancing the sound of these already high-quality instruments. Thanks to the Thermo-Cure treatment, the guitar’s tone already sounds at purchase as if it had been played for years. Another eye-catcher is Eastman’s Classic-Finish, which is also used on guitars from other series.
Depending on the price range, guitars in the Traditional series are delivered with a soft case or a vintage case. The cases in particular perfectly complement the traditional look of the instruments.
The guitar workshop Eastman Guitars has its origins in the company Eastman Strings. Eastman Strings was founded in 1992 by Qian Ni in Beijing and originally started with the handcrafted production of high-quality violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Because the traditional craftsmanship and the resulting instruments are still highly valued today, the workshop quickly expanded its range to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and fully solid guitars.
These instruments are created with the same craft skill and precise workmanship as the string instruments, which makes the semi-acoustic models a definite recommendation to try for all jazz and blues guitarists searching for a new instrument. The semi-acoustic guitars are available as Thinline, Archtop and even as a Signature Archtop model. Depending on preference you can then choose between All Solid Carved, Solid Carved Top and laminate models.
The high-quality solid-body guitars in LP style are similar. These are also divided into three levels. The choice is between guitars with Antique Varnish, Truetone Gloss and Truetone Vintage Gloss finishes, with the Antique Varnish finish being inspired by violin making and delivering a full, open and resonant tone.
Fans of acoustic guitars can enjoy the largest selection from Eastman Guitars.
Besides the many different guitar shapes like Dreadnought, Grand Auditorium, Orchestra and Jumbo or OO, Parlor, Travel and further exotics such as Cabaret and Gypsy-Jazz, the western acoustics also differ in their build quality levels and finishes. Among the most popular are the Traditional, AC and the Antique Varnish series.
No matter which instrument you ultimately choose from the guitar workshop Eastman Guitars, you receive a high-quality piece of craftsmanship made from fine tonewoods and convincing with an excellent sound.
