Entertainment pianos, also referred to as ensemble pianos, represent a special form of digital pianos or home pianos. Some of them are also designed as portable pianos. They are equipped with numerous sounds, accompaniment rhythms, sequencer and recording functions that are more akin to an entertainer keyboard.
Entertainment pianos — a band in a keyboard
So piano lovers who mainly want to play alone in their own four walls don't have to forgo musical accompaniment or buy extra equipment. These pianos offer, alongside the playing feel of a piano, the option to play with an auto-accompaniment. Audio files can also be played as playbacks. Using the internal sequencer or recorder, your own playbacks and performances can be recorded.
Otherwise, entertainment pianos are of course based on the same digital sound generation, which relies on sampling of piano sounds or physical modelling, which calculates the physical parameters and thus simulates the sound generation. The leading manufacturers offering entertainment pianos in various price ranges here are Casio, Korg, Roland and Yamaha. The instruments differ in the quality of sound generation, keyboard, user interface, amplifier and speaker systems, as well as the range of functions.
