Semi-acoustic guitars have been on the rise since the beginning of the 1930s. Semi-acoustic guitars are the original form of every electric guitar . The sound generation of every electric guitar is based on the principle of its pickup technology. In comparison to other guitar models such as the Fender Tele, Stratocaster or the Gibson Les Paul, you immediately notice the large body of the semi-hollowbody guitars. Electric guitar types such as the Gibson ES-335 or the cheaper variant Epiphone Casino mostly have a large, hollow body into which sound or F holes are milled. In contrast to fully resonance guitars , which are also called jazz guitars , the body of semi-acoustic guitars in the style of the ES models is much flatter. The width of the sides is hardly thicker than that of solid electric guitars, which is why this type of guitar is not suitable for unamplified guitar playing . Hollowbody guitars are equipped with 2 humbuckers for this purpose.
