Pentatonic Blues Improvisation
With Eric Plandé on tenor saxophone
In our latest video from the winds department we got none other than our good friend and long-standing customer Eric Plandé in front of the camera.
Eric is a French jazz musician with a career spanning more than 30 years on the saxophone. His faithful companion has always been the tenor saxophone. He is also skilled on the soprano saxophone and the flute.
You can find an overview of his work in the music industry, his many projects and discography on his websites ericplande.com and ericplande.bandcamp.com.
Today Eric Plandé talks to us about the exciting subject of improvisation using the pentatonic blues scale and, with audio examples, demonstrates how to skilfully combine these ideas to make your saxophone playing more varied.
In the video, Eric plays his own Selmer Reference 36 Tenor Saxophone with a Super King mouthpiece by Dave Guardala and Vandoren reeds.
