The built-in high-speed flash memory with its 1.75 GB (75% more than previous models) now offers even more space for your own samples and synthesizer libraries. The memory enables lightning-fast write and read rates and is available to both your own and Yamaha libraries. As with any instrument, the focus is of course on the sound . Therefore, the new MODX+ series uses the same technology that already sets the tone in the larger MONTAGE series . Inside there are 128 voices for the stereophonic AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) and another 128 voices for FM-X synthesis (Frequency Modulation) . Thanks to MODX+'s unique architecture, the maximum polyphony is 256 voices and is available at all times without any performance limitations or latencies.
Thanks to the seamless sound switching function , the sounds can even be changed during the performance without any notes being cut off.
The AWM2 engine for authentic, organic-sounding natural instruments includes 16 parts with eight programmable synthesizers. These can rely on 18 different filter types, amplitude, pitch and filter waveform generators, nine LFOs, 3-band EQ and a special dual-insert effect with Virtual Circuitry modeling (VCM). The FM-X synthesis continues in a similarly opulent manner. It combines the popular 80s DX7 sounds with the latest innovations from Yamaha , delivering an incredible range of dynamics, energy and liveliness. The MODX+ with its FM architecture offers up to eight operators, 128-voice polyphony as well as various filter and therefore more extensive functions than the original DX7.
The motion control technology also enables the creation of unique and constantly changing sounds. sounds can be played, mixed and combined dynamically using a programmable matrix.

Controls & Super Knob
For better control when playing, especially during hectic live operations, both the modulation and pitch bend wheels have been rubberized. What also immediately catches the eye is the illuminated controls in the middle of the workstation series. The so-called Super Knob plays a central role in the operation and sound creation of the MODX+ series .
With just a single hand movement , up to 128 parameters can be controlled simultaneously . In practice, this means that parameter functions such as volume, pan and effect sends as well as detailed synthesizer parameters such as filter, LFOs and operators can be easily integrated into the controllers mix. In addition, the Super Knob can alternatively even be operated with an FC7 pedal (optional). This means that sounds can be manipulated even when playing with both hands.
