Each Academy series guitar is built with a solid wood top, meaning a single piece of spruce or walnut. The result is a powerful, natural sound that can also be heard in conjunction with vocals or other instruments. Spruce is the top choice for the tops of most guitars. It offers a wide dynamic range and is suitable for a variety of playing styles. Walnut as a top wood combines its natural compression with an open, airy midrange, resulting in a versatile soundstage suitable for a range of musical applications. Taylor's laminated construction / acoustic consists of three layers of wood: a central core of poplar wood and a thinner layer of the respective tonewood on each side. The laminated wood construction also makes it possible to conserve tonewood resources. Although plywood guitars don't offer the same level of tonal complexity as all-solid guitars, they are all paired with a solid wood top to produce a full, vibrant sound that continues to improve over time and extended playing.

Ergonomic design

The Taylor Academy models were designed as student guitars and therefore have a number of features that make learning to play the guitar easier. The most striking feature is the rounded armrest, which guarantees long hours of play without right arm fatigue or shoulder pain. The dot inlays make it easier for beginners to find their way around the ebony fingerboard and learning to grip is child's play thanks to the narrow maple neck with a neck width of 42.9 mm (47.6 mm for classic models). In-house Taylor nickel tuning machines ensure the right tuning. The satin finish and the single-ring rosette complete the simple design of the Taylor Academy Series.

ES-B and ES-N pickup

This new version of Taylor's ES-B electronics incorporates Taylor 's Expression system 2 piezo design and features a multifunctional onboard preamp with integrated chromatic digital tuner and active EQ for EQ. The preamp/ tuner unit features an LED indicator for tuning and low battery indication, as well as a volume control and a 3-band EQ. The preamplifier/ tuner is powered by a 9V battery.

The ES-N is a single-source transducer that sits under the saddle and is equipped with a preamp and tone controls designed specifically for nylon strings. The standard Expression system controls allow extensive EQ.

Safely packaged

So that you can start your lessons or adventure straight away with your new guitar, a gig bag is including with every Taylor Academy guitar. The sturdy, sand-brown gig bag with brown lining protects your guitars on the go and at home from damage and external influences such as cold and humidity.
