Sandberg California SL Series – Session Edition
Not science fiction, but Superlight reality!
Our two chief stewards Picard and Kirk – also known as Marco and Tim from the bass department – left the bridge of our Bass-Enterprise for a moment and beamed themselves into the infinite reaches of our test rooms.
On their journey they had a selection of 4- and 5-string basses from our exclusive Session Edition in tow.
Light. Lighter. Superlight!
Behind the electric basses from our Session Edition are true featherweights, created in collaboration with the German bass manufacturer Sandberg.
The basis of these limited special models is the popular California SL Series, with the abbreviation SL standing for nothing less than “Superlight”. With that in mind, you're still surprised when you look at the scales, because the 4-string models weigh in at only between 2.7 kg and 3 kg, and the 5-string models around 3.2 kg to 3.5 kg.
For the construction of the body and neck, SANDBERG used very light tonewoods like Paulownia and Norwegian spruce. The basses are rounded off with passive electronics and modern humbucker pickups that can be turned into single-coils in no time via their split switch, as well as a well-padded gig bag.
