Behind the basses from our Session Edition hide true featherweights, created in collaboration with the German bass manufacturer Sandberg.
The basis for these limited special models is the popular California SL series, the abbreviation SL standing for nothing less than "Superlight". With that in mind, you're still surprised when you look at the scales, because the 4-string models weigh only between 2.7 kg and 3 kg and the 5-string models somewhere between 3.2 kg and 3.5 kg.
For body and neck construction, SANDBERG has used very lightweight tonewoods such as paulownia and Norwegian spruce. The basses' specification is rounded off by passive electronics and modern humbucker pickups, which can be converted to single-coils in an instant via their split switch, as well as a well-padded gig bag.
The bass forge Sandberg was founded in 1987 by Holger Stonjek with a business partner in Braunschweig. The company quickly made a name for itself in the bass community, because with Sandberg looks, tone, quality and not least the price all add up. You'll find something whether you love classic designs—California models—or modern looks & feels—e.g. the Basic, Panther, Custom and Bullet models. Under the Electra name Sandberg now also offers models that are not produced in Germany but still have to meet the same high quality standards as the regular basses.
Since 2010 the range has also included electric guitars with models like the Florence and the California ST and DC, which, like the basses, have the potential to become modern classics.
