The 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Satin Limited Edition celebrates four decades of PRS Guitars with some new and notable features for the model that started it all. This special edition, limited to just 500 pieces worldwide is distinguished by a mango wood top, an ebony fretboard, a satin nitrocellulose finish and smoked-black hardware, giving the classic a fresh touch.

Modern look with mango wood

Notably, in this limited edition the Custom 24's classic maple top has been replaced by a striking, figured mango wood top. Mango retains many of maple's tonal characteristics while giving these guitars a look similar to quilted maple. The satin nitrocellulose finish contributes to the guitar's unique aesthetic by giving the instrument a more natural appearance – along with a great feel and a lively tone. The ebony fretboard and headstock veneer are decorated with PRS "Old School" bird inlays with decorative borders and a PRS "Pre-Factory" eagle motif on the headstock, both of which pay homage to early PRS guitars.

Similarities and differences

Although the guitar looks different because of the mango top, it retains many of the Custom 24's popular features, including a mahogany body and neck, a 25-inch scale length, 24 frets, a 10-inch fretboard radius and the Pattern Thin neck profile. Other classic Custom 24 features include the patented PRS Gen III Tremolo, PRS Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons and PRS Signature 10-46 strings. The 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Satin Limited Edition is equipped with the PRS DMO treble and bass pickups. The DMO pickups (DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open) were developed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS New Products Engineering team to deliver a broadly open sound with vocal characteristics. In combination with a 5-way switch, these pickups give players a wide tonal palette. This anniversary edition continues PRS's year-long 40th anniversary celebration. Only 500 examples of this 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Satin Limited Edition will be available. A hand-signed 40th Anniversary certificate is included, further underlining the exclusivity of this guitar model.
