Find out more about the Martin Junior series
The Martin Junior Series has grown up. These redesigned guitars and basses combine iconic Martin craftsmanship with a compact, comfortable body size and a 24.9" neck with a full scale length - a significant upgrade for guitarists seeking classic tone and effortless playability. Crafted from all-solid tonewoods like sapele and spruce, the Junior Series offers the unmistakable warmth and depth of a Martin in a portable size. Whether you're writing songs on the couch, warming up backstage or hitting the road, these guitars deliver uncompromising tone and vintage aesthetics.

The upgrades of the new models
Thanks to ergonomic improvements such as a thinner fingerboard with a slightly bevelled edge and a refined string spacing, you can play your guitar longer without fatigue and enjoy the fresh look and reliability of the satin chrome tuners used on selected models. In addition, the look of some selected Junior models has been enhanced with faux abalone rosettes, a hardwood headstock with HPL veneer in Barzilian Rosewood design and a sloped modern belly bridge made of FSC-certified Richlite.
All instruments in the revamped Martin Junior series now also feature the proven, high-quality Martin E1 electronics with built-in tuner and a pre-amp with volume, tone and phase controls that allow you to easily adjust and shape your sound. With various dreadnought, 000 and cutaway body options - including the brand new 000Jr-E Sapele and DJr-E models in the equally new Streetlegend Burst finish - the Junior Series guarantees that you'll find the ideal guitar for you.
Every Martin Junior guitar comes with a softshell case so you can use it wherever inspiration strikes. Big things really do come in small packages, and with the Martin Junior Series, you'll always have your full-size companion at your fingertips.
Martin Junior spruce/sapele models
As a guitar top, Sitka spruce is the standard tonewood of modern times. The combination of strength and elasticity results in a broad dynamic spectrum that enables clear articulation and is suitable for everything from aggressive strumming to flatpicking and fingerpicking.
The sound of Sapele is consistent and balanced across the entire tonal spectrum, making it compatible with a variety of playing styles. It is comparable to mahogany, but its higher density results in a slightly brighter sound with more shimmer in the upper range.
The following Martin Junior models have a Sapele body with a spruce top:

Martin Junior sapele/sapele models
Sapele is an alternative tonewood that originates from Central Africa and has been used by Taylor for over a decade. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as African mahogany because it is very similar to the West African wood khaya, which is known commercially as African mahogany. Sapele is a very sustainable, relatively fast-growing wood. In terms of sound, it offers everything that mahogany can do, just with a little more pep in the trebles. Due to its rapid growth, Taylor will be able to offer this wood for a long time to come.
Sapele fits well with almost all playing styles. It's a great all-purpose tonewood that delivers a balanced, pleasing tone in a variety of playing applications, from fingerstyle to strumming.
The body and top of the following Martin Junior models are made of Sapele:
