Gibson Flying V

At the end of the 1950s, Gibson wanted to modernize and improve its somewhat outdated, conservative image. No guitar embodies this better than the Flying V.

The Flying V was first introduced in 1958, but only sold a few units in the first few years, so production stopped in 1962. However, the guitar's popularity increased significantly in the mid-1960s after some well-known musicians played the Flying V. These included, for example, Albert King and Jimi Hendrix. Due to increasing demand, Gibson began production again in 1967. Ever since the successful days of hard rock and heavy metal in the 1970s and 80s, the Flying V has been an absolute icon of rock music.

A mahogany body with a mahogany neck is normally used in the construction / acoustic of the Flying V, but there are also models in which other woods are used. When it comes to electronics, similar to woods, there are model-based differences. A Flying V is always equipped with two humbuckers, which are controlled via three controls and a 3-way switches .
