Gibson ES

The Gibson ES series ("Electric Spanish") is regarded as one of the most elegant designs in the history of guitar-making. It bridges the gap between the traditional jazz guitar and the modern rock guitar.

The secret of this construction – especially in the legendary ES-335 – is the solid "Center Block" (Sustain Block) that runs through the centre of the body. It suppresses unwanted feedback at high volumes, while at the same time giving the guitar the long sustain and the punchy presence you otherwise know from solid-body models like the Gibson Les Paul or the Gibson SG .

Visually, the ES stands out with its characteristic F-holes and arched body, usually made from laminated maple. Sonically it offers a warm, airy fundamental tone that is reinforced by powerful humbucker pickups . That makes it at home not only in jazz and blues, but also a mainstay of rock 'n' roll.
