As Metallica 's guitarist, Kirk Hammett is of course as well known to most musicians as the guitars he plays. Kirk is an avowed Gibson fan and has now acquired a considerable guitar collection. His most famous collector's items are of course the Gibson "Greeny" Les Paul Standard from 1959 and the Gibson Flying V from 1979. Epiphone took a close look at Kirk's Flying V and recreated it. Now it is being reissued as a significantly cheaper version within the Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Artist Collection and allows you to bring the real Metallica sound home at a low price. The guitars were manufactured in collaboration with the Gibson custom shop and to the correspondingly high quality standards.

Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1959 Les Paul Standard "Greeny"

The Greeny is one of the most iconic original LesPaul standards ever made, with a unique sound as distinctive as the guitar itself. It was formerly owned by Peter Green, who played it during his time with Fleetwood Mac and later sold it to Gary Moore , who used her for three decades with Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. Today owned by Kirk Hammett, the Greeny has passed through the hands of three legendary guitarists. Their distinctive sound is due in part to the out-of-phase center switch position created by the neck pickup's reversed magnetic polarity .

Inspired by Kirk's legendary original, this exceptional guitar gives players around the world the opportunity to experience some of the magic of "Greeny" for themselves. It is equipped with premium components including Gibson Greenybucker pickup, a Switchcraft pickup switch, CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with Spade knobs on an Openbook headstock. The instrument was developed in collaboration with the Gibson custom shop . A brown hardshell case with a Vintage -style pink lining is including .

Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V

Metallica fans around the world know Kirk Hammett's 1979 Flying V. It was Kirk's first Gibson and started his passion for Gibson guitars. When purchasing, he was inspired by famous Flying V players, whom Kirk admired because he was looking for a fuller sound . Kirk still plays the original guitar to this day and used it on all of Metallica's early albums, including Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All and The Black Album , making them one of the most important heavy metal guitars of all time. Now, Epiphone, in collaboration with the Gibson custom shop , releases the Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V, a meticulous recreation of Kirk's prized original. The Flying V is available in Ebony and Purple Sparkle.

The most important features of the Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V

The Flying V features a mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with volute, Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with "Spade" knobs, and a custom bridge. The electronics are also top notch, with a pair of Gibson USA Calibrated T-Type humbucker pickups wired with CTS potentiometers and an Orange Drop capacitor, as well as a Switchcraft 3-way pickup toggle switch and 1/4" jack socket. A Kirk Hammett logo adorns the back of the headstock and completes the signature look. A black hardshell case with red plush lining is also included.
